Pre- and post-Oktoberfest events

Or: 101 more ways to exploit a commercial goldmine

sarabyrd
Post them here.

The Hofbräukeller is offering a pre-Wiesn special consisting of 1/2 chicken, a small pretzel and a pint of Wiesnbier for €9.90. Or you go the whole hog and choose their BIG pre-Wiesn special: 1/2 chicken, a big pretzel and a whole Maß for €15.90. Compared to the tent prices this is indeed a bargain.

AND: If you haven't had enough at the Wiesn (maybe because your reservation in a small tent provided you with only two hours drinking time) the Hofbräukeller has extended its opening hours until 2am on the Wiesn Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Or the Löwenbräukeller "Nacht der Tracht" daily from 9pm on. Not that you can join in spontaneously, you have to book tickets for the VIP Lounge or the Loden-Frey Clubbing area.

I think I'm going to be sick. All we need now is for Daglfing to remember that the whole thing started with a horse race and they'll host some König-Ludwig-Gedächtnisrennen or, in newspeak, Ries'nwies'nrace.

Not Oktoberfest but in Rosenheim there are no end of pre-Wiesn events to get you into form for the Herbsfest. Every bar seems to have one.

It's getting almost as over-hyped and over-exploited as the Superbowl in the U.S.

Ok, let me start by stating this will be our first Oktoberfest. So far, the concept: going to a big tent, listening to bands and drinking bier, I just don’t get all the fuss. Every friend we have, especially under the age of 30, wants to come and visit!

But hey, I figure there has got to be something, I’m missing. So I am looking forward to it!

I heard that there is a pre-party for German residences only the day before the actual event opens. I hear that it is so the residences can go and visit the fairgrounds and tents before the hordes of visitors invade.

Is this true? Or an urban legend? Do you have to buy tickets? If so where?

Thanks for the information.

Officially, it's off limits. But no one really respects that, so feel free to take a wander if you're in town.

The EPO is also having a Wies'n warm-up afterwork party next week...if you come in Tracht you get 3 free drinks!

Might be a wee bit hard to get in if all the residences will be there, are the residents allowed as well
