are you doing the move yourself or are you using a removal firm, cos they normally take care of that for you?

I think that you have to go to one of the police stations. Otherwise, find one of those signs and see what address and phone number is on them.

I haven't tried them, but here are some numbers from the New in the City magazine. According to the article you need a permit and sign and both of these places are all-in-one services.

I'm sure this is something the council would have something to do with. Try looking at Munich City council's moving information pages to see if this has any useful information

Most removal companies have their own, and simply put them out on stands the day before. Not strictly legal, but it works... If it was for a longer period of days then you are more likely to get caught out and need should get a permit..
Just get your own. Just don't ask me how. Use your imagination (and a screwdriver)

Waddayamean who do I call?
You just go round in the dead of night and nick somebody elses.

Thanks Sin and YL6 - that is the best suggestion I've heard all day - definitely easier than calling some Germans and listening for an hour to their 'rules and regulations'.
I'm moving soon too.

Ok, but assuming this needs to be done by the book, by an english person.. who would be 'the one' to call.
Also, does anyone know how much it costs for a day?

Ok, i won't be paying for it.. it's for someone i'm helping move early next year but i have been lumbered with sorting these shitty jobs out.
It turns out the place is in a street where residents need a permit to park so it could be harder than usual?
So if i call this place persimmon mentioned: WH-Montageservice-Schilderdienst then i give them date, address, amount of space required and some bank details then everything is sorted, right?

You need a permit from the Ordnungsamt or Polizei.
You can also do it online here if you read German:
http://www.moveasy.de/bestellen.phpand I think they will just set it up for you at a price.

I think I will just make my own signs or better yet, just park our cars in the spot(big spot) we want until we pick up the truck. It's a small street, no one will mind, I'm sure.

@YL6, well knowledge is everything

As your German is clearly better than mine, could you perhaps have a quick gander at that site and click on 'preise', then Munich, and tell me the difference between the moveasy hin&weg and the moveasy plus.
I could only gather that the hin&weg option is them doing the delivery of signs, and removing etc. But, on the order form there only seems to be an option for the PLUS version.
Clues??

http://www.moveasy.de/preise.php?city=MünchenThat gives you the price. In Munich, the "hin&weg" seems to be the only option.

Yes but:

Is the PLUS option, and there don't seem to be an option for hin&weg.

... tell me the difference between the moveasy hin&weg and the moveasy plus.
"Hin&weg" is full service (sort out permission, block off the area, deliver the signs, and take it all away at the end), whereas "Plus" is simply sorting out the permit. If they only offer the "Plus" version in Munich then I would presume they don't have anyone here to provide the delivery part of service (they seem to be Hamburg based). Maybe it's a job opportunity for you...
Don't you get paid for this? - where's my cut?

It looks to me that that is only the permit and nothing more-no signs and no pick-up or delivery.

well then, what seemed to be a great service, is in fact, not!
So i pay €30 for a permit, and then i have to organise letting the public know that the place they want to park in is temporarily mine!
Presumably then, photocopying the invoice and sticking it up 15m apart outside the house in question should suffice. Hmm, me thinks that won't work.
Load of bollox, why do i get myself into these things?!

As I said, I think Munich will require you to purchase the "hin&weg" option, which under Plus means two permits and then you have to rent the signs yourself. If it tax deductible for the person moving. Make them pay for the 69€.

@eurovol:
I think you have misunderstood. Or is it me that has?
When you check Munich as the city, ONLY the PLUS option is available.
Where can you see the HIN&WEG option on the order form?

Ok, there are a couple of things i misunderstood. Sorry, xmas at work glühwein and my connection speed is shit today.
The permit costs 29€. The signs cost 69€. They will do both.
The "PLUS" is that they also get the permit for you and that is on top of the 69€.

We are moving from the US. Our goods are arriving via a container which will be trucked down from Bremen. The moving company has informed me I will need to secure a parking zone & permit on container delivery day. They said they could do this for 190 Euros. Is this a reasonable fee or is it really something like 20 Euros and knowing where to go to get the neccessary paperwork?
If it is the later, does anyone know where I go to start this process. I live in
Obersendling.

We had the moving company do the paperwork for us but it was included in the package (pardon the pun) so I have no idea how much it would cost, though I must say 190 euros seems like an awful lot.

Try your local Rathaus or
KVR.. It shouldn't cost more than 50 Eur, if they even charge for it at all...

It's €70 or was last December. Our moving company did it although we canceled our request as the van fit nicely on the very wide pavement in front of the house. Be sure to set it up a week in advance.
You will notice, by the way, that people will stop parking there immediately, not bothering to look at the date on the temporary sign, and then block the whole street on moving day.

I am in the middle of a move, and I would like to have those signs for a day or two that say that because of a move, nobody is allowed to park there (Halteverbotszone). There is this website www.moveasy.de, you can get the permit for 79 euros, but I have already been told that you can do this at the
KVR as well. Personally I think that 79 euros is a bit expensive for this... has anyone ever done this who could give me some useful tips?

I just found out that if you do this on the moveasy website, they charge 39 euros for arranging the permit (the plus option), and another 79 euros if you want them to put up the signs for you.
