Last night (I live in Milbertshofen) thousands and thousands of rollerbladers came past where I live (twice) the traffic had to be stopped for about 20minutes. Any ideas what this was for?
Ahhhh! I've only just moved there! So every Monday this happens?

It does (weather permitting) but don't worry, they change the course every week so you won't have thousands of bladers passing in front of your window every Monday night.
EDIT: just saw your post, see, everybody's happy now

Yeah, it was a bit odd seeing them go past, thought I was seeing things! How many people do it? It seemed there was a large amount of people for at least 20mins.

I counted 19, 424...but there were several sets of twins in identical outfits, so maybe 19,426.

Why is it so bad to have some rollerbladers pass your home? Is it worse than the constant roar of traffic?

- The noise is a lot louder
- Means if I want to use the road I cannot
It's not a big deal really, not all that bothered, was just weird to see about 20k of rollerbladers.

I also saw someone rollerblading pushing a wheelchair.

I used to live near Königsplatz, and it annoyed me that the roads were closed off for the blade meet ups.

I think you'd have to be quite the misery-guts to object to a road being closed for an hour a year (or however long it is) for a social event.

t'was actually most Monday evenings during the summer...an hour a year'd've been ok
(not that I'm bothered what you'd think anyway )

It was the anniversary Blade night, the number 100. The Münchner Bladenight is the biggest of its kind in Europe. Other cities have their events too, even Munich suburbs like Haar or Oberschleißheim although only once or twice a year. The most beautiful must be the one held twice a year at Tegernsee: 22 km round the lake.
