Quentin Tarantino starts filming in Berlin on October 13, 2008. His new movie will depict Nazi soldiers having their brains bashed out with a baseball bat wielded by a vengeful Jewish-American. I am however not sure whether or not this film contains any dwarfs.

The Times: Hitler to get Pulp Fiction treatment in Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards.

The star role is to be played by Brad Pitt. His character, Lieutenant Aldo Raine, leads a group of American-Jewish soldiers who are dropped into Nazi-occupied Europe to wreak revenge on the Germans and destroy their morale.

It is not just the scalping, or the carving of swastikas in foreheads, or the shooting of a German officer’s testicles, or the slow strangling scene – all shown with Tarantino’s customary love of detail – that is likely to upset the nation and its critics.

Three more join 'Inglorious Bastards'

Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz and Paul Rust have joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards.

The trio join Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Mike Myers and Michael Fassbender in the World War II drama, which focuses on a group of Jewish-American soldiers facing German armed forces in Nazi-occupied France.

Kruger (National Treasure) will play German actress Bridget Von Hammersmark, while Waltz will take the role of main antagonist Col. Hans Landa.

Inglorious Bastards begins production in Germany on October 13.

Just an FYI: When I lived in West Hollywood, CA my neighbor was Quentin...long before he became well known. Nice guy, always said hello when I would see him on the sidewalk coming from grocery store or whatever. Even after he became a celebrity, he still lived in that same tiny apartment on North Crescent Heights for a few more years before finally moving.
I know this has nothing to do with anything, but just thought I would throw it out there.

That really nice to hear, I like that about Quentin. But I am disappointed to hear there are no midgets in the movie. Where have all the great midget movies gone, is it a PC thing? My brother and I were on holiday and walking up a tiresome hill, walking in the opposite direction was a midget.

From the Irish times: Blonde and willing to die horribly?

Quentin Tarantino's next film is about Jewish soldiers killing Nazis in gruesome ways - and it's being filmed in Germany. Are you blonde and blue-eyed? Could you pass for an Aryan Nazi on celluloid? If so, Quentin Tarantino wants to see you at a casting call in Berlin this morning for his new war epic, Inglorious Bastards.

This is a stupid comment from the article in the Irish Times:

"Because the film takes place during the second World War, the agency will only hire extras who fit into this time visually," said the casting agency in an open call.

According to Tarantino's criteria, that means blonde men between the ages of 20 and 45 with military experience. Applicants with dyed hair, piercings, or a sun-bed orange glow are "taboo". Amputees will get a look-in. Hair must be long enough to be cut into a historically correct style - short sides, long top.

"So, once again, the Germans are the blonde, blue-eyed monsters," remarked one newspaper columnist sardonically.
Well duh... at least Tarantino is trying to depict the truth in that fact, and not cast black Germans as Nazis for example..

I had to look up "inglorious":

1. shameful; disgraceful: inglorious retreat.
2. not famous or honored.

I wonder which of the two senses of the word he will focus on.

Pfffft, a Quentin Tarantino movie, great. Pulp fiction may be one of the best movies ever made, but he has actually made nothing else of note since then, and I wouldn't expect this to be any good either.

Quick story: On opening day of Bloodwater's first run in October, sometime in the afternoon my director was eating in a local cafe when she saw Quentin there. She gave him a flyer and invited him to the show, but sadly, he didn't show

But perhaps we can get a campaign slogan out of it.

Come see the inOKtober production of "Bloodwater" at the English Theater Berlin. Our flyer was in Quentin Tarantino's hands!

(probably not).

BTW, anyone know if he's still filming and around which areas? It'd be neat to sorta pass by and see some of the action from a far.
