can anyone recommend a decent hotel that is not outrageously priced in london?? thanx

eerdbeer, there are absolutely loads of cheap places in earls Court, right on the Piccadilly line, straight from Heathrow; to numerous to mention. Whenever I have a stopover in London, that’s where I head. Shouldn’t cost more than £50 per night. Other than that, I am sure you’ve made loads of friends here, surely one will have a friend in London who can put you up?

I always use this link for London hotels. They have some great rooms available and most of them at at least 50-70% cheaper than normal

try searching for "cheap hotels london" on google. you'll find loads of sites that offer great deals. I got a lovely room in a really swanky hotel just off Oxford Street for 40 pounds a night inc breakfast (later found out that the breakfast itself cos 25 quid!!!) Bargain!! am afraid I'm getting old tho so can't remember thename of site or the hotel...worrying!

I've been recommended The Wellington in the past. Not too bad pricewise, also handy for the train station (opposite) and access to the city.

I am looking for a central hotel room in London. I know London is not cheap, but I also know that my budget is not too much. I would like to spend a hundred Euro per twin bed room (I'm going thee with my father at the end of february). So it should be a nice hotel with breakfast (for some reason he loves the english breakfast) in the centre where we can walk either to the sights or to the pubs, close to Covent Garden would be ideal. Of course there are many sites I can have a look but I would prefer a personal recommendation
I already had a look and found some lovely places but am sure and i want it to be nice. A father in a bad mood cause he didn't sleep well for 3 daysin London is not what I prefer

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or a very good B&B?

Thanks for your help.

Ok,

go to lastminute.com, and search for a hotel on the dates, selecting 4 & 5 star hotels only. Then order the search results by Lowest prices first. Take note of the "secret hotels" - have had some good deals with them this way.

Also be careful of school holidays in feburary. If you get really stuck theres also the travellodgeat covent garden

For cheap digs in the centre, go to King's Cross. There are a lot of crappy hotels across the street from the main station entrance up the two roads to the left and right, usually for about 20 squid a night. There's also one quite nice one for about 40 squid (includes good brekkie buffet) called Hotel California.

Well, Kings Cross may be cheap, but I wouldn't call it nice.
Bit scary round there, don't you think?
I used to live near Kings Cross before I moved down to Brixton, and it is truly not fun to walk around there at night. Better to stick to the other places mentioned, I would've thought.

I've used laterooms.com before for both Dublin and London and have had some great deals but of course it's last minute, so if you need to know now where you will be staying then it's probably not for you.

I didn't call King's X nice, only the hotel. It's a bit of a rough area, but it's quite safe these days, or at least has been when I've been there. You won't find anything cheaper and a lot of the places that are three times the cost are almost as crappy as some of the King's X hotels.

I booked the Thistle Hotel Trafalgar Square now.
www.londontown.com has some nice deals. Will let you know how it was. Hope it'll please my father

Hi Folks,

Can anyone say how the Sussex Gardens/Hyde Park area is? Close to the Edgware road tube? Nice neighborhood? Avoid at all costs? Lively or boring?
