Australians in Stuttgart

Any Aussies here? What's your story?

Okay, apparently (according to the statistics) there are about 1,200 Aussies in the Baden-Württemberg area. I am going to assume that most of them live /work in the Stuttgart area. With that said, who the heck are ya and what is your story? Aussie, Aussie, Aussie ... oi, oi, oi (sorry, had to! :-))

Cheers!
Damien

The only Aussies that I know who live in Stuttgart are involved in the Aussie rules team - The Stuttgart Emu's

The website's not ready yet, but there's contact info there. Even if you're not into footy, I'm sure they'd be happy for you to get in touch and have a beer with them after training.
DamienRothstein
Yeah, one of my new mates (who I met at the Irish bar) told me about the Emu's ... at 198cm, do ya need a ruck? :-) I'll have to check it out. Thanks mate.

Well I guess I'm 0,083 percent of the Aussies in Baden-Wuerttemberg too then.
I've been to a few of the Emu's trainings, haven't made it the last couple of weeks though, will be going this friday hopefully.
The Coach/Organiser is Australian and there's another Aussie there too but he lives somwhere outside of Stuttgart.
I've met one other Aussie woman in Stuttgart, but apart from that, they're a rare breed here.

Hi, I'm from australia, just moved here officially on Monday, though I have been to stuttgart a few times in the past year already as my boyfriend is german and lives here, and now i'm finally moving over. I lived in London for a year and a half but from Sydney originally. Going to be learning German and getting into the german lifestyle now!
cheers,
Winnie

I am another rare breed. An aussie soon to be living in Heilbronn (45 mins from Stuttgart) in September with my German partner. Originally from Melbourne, I am currently living in Hong Kong.

That's it? That's all there is? Just six (or so) of us! Wow, what a small showing. I wonder where the other 1000+ Aussies are *laugh* I have still yet to check out the EMUs ... Anyway, all you Aussies should come out to Biddy's tonight for a sing-fest! :-)

I don't really live in Stuttgart. I work there 3 days a week, so get there early Monday and leave early evening on Wednesday - not enough to call myself a resident...

So that really only leaves 5.

I did some study at Uni in Australia.
( Hey I lived in Bathurst for a while,so that makes me an adopted Aussie.)

Traveled quite a bit as well. Pretty much everywhere North of Sydney. ( and a some south)
Learned to surf in Wollongong. Skydiving in Cairns.
The Whitsundays is the most beautiful place on Earth!

Sorry I got caught up in reminiscing. I miss the life down under.
Goodtimes.

After visiting Sydney couple of weeks ago, I wished I were an Aussie!!! Such a marvellous place, and great people!!! Does that count?
DamienRothstein
Well, your heart is in the right place! :-) So, sure, we can count you as an honorary Aussie! Ah, but, can you drink like one? ;-)
DamienRothstein
Struth that's bloody fantastic!

The only thing you did not do is go diving on The Reef ... I'm sure that was just a slip of your reminiscent mind though, right? *grin*

Did you go tandem or go the AFF route? I did AFF in Suffolk, VA.

... I should give ya a medal for living in Bathurst ... not the best place in Australia to be :-) Better than Broken Hill though :-)

Totally agree re: the Passage ... too beautiful. One of those places that you can find yourself and then lose yourself, all in the same day. Magical.

*sigh*

Ah, to be there, on a cat, drifting with a pod of Dolhpins as an escort ...

Well I went snorkeling on the reef, not diving. But that did slip the mind. Must have been a few too many Tooheys. =>

Can i drink with th aussies? I'm true blue mate!
( I miss getting blind on a whole bag/box of goon)

I did the tandem jump in Cairns.
I wanted to jump high (14,000ft), and that was really the only option they had.
I have just learned about AFF and i'm going to have to give it a shot as well. Do they do any of that near here that you know of? Austria perhaps?
Opossum
Wow, aren't we a bunch of travellers?
But Crazy_horce, drinking Tooheys won't make you an honorary Australian, same as drinking Becks doesn't make you a German.
And where does Mr. Rothstein call home?
