Hello,

I'm moving to Munich and wondering what's the best why to exchange U.S. (very weak dollar) currency for Euros. I'm also wondering what is the best procedure for opening a Bank Account in Germany. Hopefully something that will allow me to go back and forth with my american bank. Many Thanks.

Short term = ATM
Check with your home bank their conditions on foreign ATM use, get a 4 numer PIN code AND LEARN IT.

Longer term, Citibank might be a good bank to use but some NON-COMMERCIAL ie Sparkasse banks might offer you a better local deal.

Happy banking, it's only money! wink.gif

Apparently, if you have a Citibank account in both countries, you can transfer money between them for free; so you might want to open one before coming here and then open another one here. There is some discussion about it on this thread. I wish I'd done that.
