Record number of online users

I don't know if anybody checks on the current users online, but it seems like we're beating it every day! Is it a big moving-to-Munich-wave, a structural lack of motivation at work, or something else?

That's a lot of people. Hitting refresh while watching that is like watching a stock ticker.

Each time I sign on to TT, I am greeted number of registered members and the largest number ever online Sept 6 at 3:33 pm 113 users online. Being the sucker for stats and record breaking that I am, I always think how great it would be to break that record. If everyone signs on at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, it could easily be done. The idea of setting a new record really excites me. Could just be that I'm bored though.

well it might if everyone does log on. but i think it is much nicer when these records just happen, without any pre-meditation.

You don't have to log on, the system counts all users, not just the members, which makes it all the less interesting - you could have 115 guests and not a single TTer logged on and still break the record.

Ah, don't spoil Mbangura's bit of fun! I'll stay logged on, even if the window is minimized while I'm working.

That number is soooo wrong. One day right around the Nov 2nd election is was like 171 and then the next day it was below the previous record.

Sometimes TT gets hit by rogue search engine spiders. Most spiders (google, msn, etc...) behave themselves and they only hit the webserver with a single process. The rogue ones hit with multiple processees and this artificially inflates the online count. Usually the Inktomi spider behaves itself (Net range: 66.196.64.0 - 66.196.127.255), but not today.

Thing we are having a few records recently, most people at a Curry Wednesday, first one of the year 24.

Most people at a TV event, Monty Python, 15 people.

most at a curry? Count again: here's the signup list and often more people have come than signed up. Aug. 4 2004 had 37 signed up by my count.

I remember the curry from Aug 4th, it was the one in Ganga, organised by Roots.
I just happen to remember it because of other things that were going on at the time...

Oooh, Pepper, not sure about that TV record... SatC nights have had a lot of people, but I don't know if anyone has made an official count...

Yeah that's true I think the SatC night at Hellcat's had about 30 girls.
