So, there i was driving back along Steinsdorfstr on my way home and there are lots of lighting rigs going up along and across the Isar ( Mariannebruecke ).

So, i'm presuming there's gonna be some kind of waterborne celebrations going on between Marianne and Ludwigs bridges?

I know i could google it but i'm feeling lazy.

I have just been reliably informed that it is the Brueckenfest.

the Isarbrückenfest is indeed being built today and this evening. i wish i had an overview of everything, but its just been replanned this week to make it bigger so i havent a clue except what im doing...

all of the bridges will be lit and there will be music, stages and art installations all along the banks. a stage should stand in front of the cinema at deutsches museum on which a bunch of musical acts will perform. all middle of the road cack as far as ive seen. there was talk of another two stages, but i havent a clue what the deal is with them. a crane will suspend a large screen over the river which will display some of the scenes taking place along the isar.

put it this way, itll be a nice chance to experience the river in a whole new way. the weather should be good, the beer is always good and the company is up to you to organise.

its pretty much the last big festival in the city as part of the 850 year celebrations.

The street outside our office is blocked off by police. As it is one of the main north-south thoroughfares from the Mittlerer Ring to downtown there are lots of pissed-off car and truck drivers giving the police various earfulls. I don't think I'll get much work done today, this reality TV is too amusing.

Lots of busy bees out there building up stands along the Erhardtstr. and putting up stages, screens etc. There is chaos on the roads due to the closed bridges...the one at Fraunhoferstr. is chokkers with extra traffic....as the Fest starts at 16.00 today I'll probably take a look see before heading over to Hopfengarten for FBG. Seeing as it's on my doorstep I can't really avoid it!

A real shame it got rained out last night. They have put a huge effort into the festival with something for everyone. Watched Constantin Wecker for a while but missed Willy Astor due to the rain. The "Wasserspiele" would have been more effective in the dark. Thought the orange deck chairs were a nice idea along the river etc. Even the prefab toilets were pretty luxurious and clean (well early on in the evening).
