Hard to believe but according to the TT graph there are more Canadians than Irish active.
Does this mirror reality in Germany or cant the Irish write that much?

well, its pretty close 7.1% and 7.4%
I only think I know more Canadians as I go to the meet ups and no longer hang out at Irish Pubs.

Just thinking along the lines of proximity and EU work permits etc. and it being more difficult as a Canadian to get a job in Germany.
On second thought maybe the stats are warped due to US citizens hiding behind the maple leaf (like backpackers do),

The Irish can't write??? You must be joking. They have produced more award winning authors in the 20th century than any other English speaking country!!! Of course, it doesn't hurth that they are inspired when they have a little drink.

Sure will. The next St. Patrick's Day Parade in Munich will be on 15/03/2009.
All hell is going to be let loose, so it is.

Some of that UK segment may be from Norn Iron.

And if you stick the Septics and the Mounties together - it's more than the UK. Which explains why at least 40% of the people here don't get what I am talking about most of the time.

No, it doesn't mirror reality in Germany. The chart is irrelevant as regards the foreign population living here. There are many English-speaking foreigners residing here who don't even know about this site - never mind post on it. Many are simply not interested in posting on internet forums of specific ethnic groups and manage to survive quite well without being attached to the pc all day.

Why irrelevant? It says "TT Membership by nationality" on top. It's not trying to indicate anything other than what is related to this site and even then "only active members who have declared their nationality in a recognizsable way."
Haha, sneaky edit there, ES.

7.1% membership being Irish simply doesn't mirror the population of the Irish in DE. Like I said, there are many immigrants out there from the English-speaking countries who've never even looked at this site.

Actually, the graph of TT members does more-or-less mirror the reality in Germany as a whole.
In the whole of Germany there are more Canadians than Irish, and there are roughly equal numbers of British and Americans.
Full statistics, including other nationalities, can be seen here:
Expats in GermanyQUOTE
Total for each nationality throughout Germany:
* American: 97,864
* British: 96,245
* Canadian: 12,929
* Irish: 10,040
Best guess is that around 10% of all native English-speakers living in Germany regularly drop in on TT.

Although I thought there were more than c. 80-100,000 native English speakers in Germany, a 10% penetration rate is simply amazing ... in the world's third-largest economy no less.
For some scale, Focus Magazin (which is pretty big and well-known) only has a circulation of c. 700,000.
Your ad rates must be through the roof
