Thankyou for the replies, finding TT topics interesting and informative although some UK (members)!!! thought it was for expats in Germany (maybe I got it wrong there) !! are very offensive to other users. oh well just an observation. nuff said.
Cheers to all those in meg pomm and lets enjoy its beauty.

Hi Murphy, just got back from Australia and read your comments. I was born and lived most of my early life in Yorkshire though I don't know what you would call me now. I lived in Brisbane for 35 years and now live here most of the time. Where to next? Your guess is as good as mine although I don't think it will be far from MVP. My German friends think of me as the original Mad Pom!! As the above shows I am an older person but would love to meet with other ex-pats of any age. Have many English speaking German friends but the urge to talk to fellow native speakers gets to my Texan friend and I at times. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello All... this might not be the best place to post but here goes. Currently living in Lubmin with my partner (she is German) and our 7mos old son. Moved here from California but I am originally from Washington DC. Been here for 4 months and going a bit stir cazy. Pretty much stuck at home. People here are not very friendly. I am African American and I get stared at on a regular basis. Gotten to the point I hate to leave the house. Anyway, would like to meet other english speaking people. Looking for a Mommy and Me type group. I don't drive, so I would have to find my way around on public transportation. Any ideas...

Have you tried looking in Greifswald - with the student population there then I'd imagine there must be some English-speaking groups, and it's "only" 40 minutes on the bus. Maybe try contacting the international office at the university - even though you're not a student then they may be willing and able to help?

Other than that, Lubmin really is "kurz vor Polen"...

Can't say I'm surprised you're an object of curiosity. Lubmin is pretty much the quietest part of the quietest part of Germany and MVP is a stronghold of far-right activities. Rostock and Berlin are more than 3 hours and several changes by train away.

There's an Elternverein (Parent's club) - see bottom of the page

Wow, thanks for the info. Will check it out. I have friends in Berlin, but just haven't worked up the courage to hop a train and go visit by myself. I lived in Germany 6 years ago in Hildesheim and had no trouble exploring by myself. Don't know where this sudden case of nerves comes from. We are planning on moving to Koeln as soon as my partner finds a job there. Again, thanks for the info!

The coast in MVP is nice but it's out of the mainstream for ex-pats. I'm sure you'll feel much better in Köln. Hang in there.
