We are looking for something sit down, reasonably priced, and central for lunch today. Any suggestions?

If you can include cuisine type and average plate cost, it will help in choosing.

Thanks bunches.

CADU. I like it there. Good sized portions, mixed cuise. Avg. plate, mmm, maybe €8. U3/U6 Uni stop

Or get a bagel w/your fave toppins at Coffee Fellows. Avg. cost, around €3,50 per bagel.
Most restaurants have a "mittagsmenu" to get peeps in. Most go for €6 or so, but you can only chose from 1 or 2 meals.

Sausalitos in Tal offer buffet for - I think - 8,50€ till - I think - 2:30pm. smile.gif

Here's a list of central restaurants.

There's also a sit down Italian place on MaximillianStrasse. Very shicky but not expensive as its mostly pasta dishes. Simple menu too 5 kinds of pasta, 5 kinds of sauces that you can mix n-match. I was there 5 months ago I think dishes ranged from 6-9 euros. Crowded shared bench style seating. Theres also a cafe in the front where you can sit and lounge around. (Both can be a bit slow during the lunch hour) and a posh full menu place in the back but I havent tried that.

Don't know the exact address but its inside the courtyard of the newish shopping complex on MaximillianStrasse, across the street from the Mooshamer.

The best thing about Sasolitos buffet is not that it's all you can eat, but beer is all you can drink!!! The food is usually beyond shite tho, nothing like the evening stuff. Fujikaiten at Münchner Freiheit does all you can eat on the running sushi for 10 euros, that's nice there cos the food is fresh, not sitting around like on a buffet

i worked at Sasou for a while -- a mostly japanese place with soups and sushi. it's just off marienplatz next to sport schuster. a big noodle soup will run you 7-9 euros, and sushi can be bought in packs or a la carte. not super cheap, but it is yummy. and the soups are fabulous for chilly weather.

My daughter and I are meeting a friend and her teenage daughter today. They lived here over five years ago and are back for a visit.

My plan (when it was pouring with rain last week) was the Prinz Myshkin however, I'm now thinking that it would be nicer to sit out somewhere. What is Park Cafe Noodles like at lunch time? Or anywhere else?

I think Park Cafe Noodles is only open in the evenings now. I work nearby and have attempted to go for lunch a few times recently but there were signs saying only open in the evening.

In the same area I really like Forum. The staff are very friendly and the little "garden" is closed off from the street.

Also, Seven Fish on Gartnerplatz was good for lunch a few weeks ago.
Have a nice lunch!

What area are you looking in? A really nice spot is La Villa - Bamberger Haus. It's set in Luitpold Park...in amongst the trees...quiet and peaceful but still fun. They even have some cool deck/lounge chairs where you can lounge out in the shade (or sun) after you eat. The menu is good and prices are reasonable. You can take the U2 to Scheidplatz and walk through the park to get there.

There are so many places to go...kind of hard to decide hehe.

Closer to town is Tresznjewskis near Pinakotheks. Has a good menu but tables are a tad small outside.

We are meeting them at the fish fountain so can go anywhere. I did not want to spend a ridiculous amount of money as we are off on holiday soon. What type of food is Bamberger?
Blimeygirl
Here is their menu...

I guess it is mainly Bavarian. Their 'kiddie' platters are quite good (right Kat? wink.gif) and actually a decent size for lunch. Salads are quite nice and I looove the soup. It's just a really nice place to hang out on a nice day.

Thought of another nice place... Zooziez down by the Isar. Have heard their burgers are good there but I have yet to try one.
SillyOldSlapper
Thanks a million. Armed with your suggestions, we are off to station.

Too late for Sos today, but most places in Schwabing have outdoor seating. We had lunch at Garabaldi yesterday, it was lovely, although not really cheap. I like Tresznjewskis, but I wouldn't recommend it for outside. On the corner of Barer and Theresienstr, it gets too much traffic. Sarovar is the Indian on Theresienstr one street in from Ludwigstr and it has lots of roomy outdoor seating in the shade. That part of Theresienstr is quieter than further along.

Zooziez does have good burgers, as well as nice seating out front, but not right on the street, which I hate.

Why do people think sitting at a tiny table out on the sidewalk, 2 feet from passing traffic, is better than sitting inside in summer? Granted, with no A/C it's hot in some restaurants, but I'd rather not inhale car fumes with my lunch.

Another good, affordable, central lunch tip is the little Asian place in the courtyard of the Kare store on Sendlinger Strasse. (Take the stairs/elevator to the basement level.) Very pleasant getaway from the crowds, and you can get a glass of prosecco with a lychee thrown in for 1 euro.

TRy Vapiano. It's located in the 5 Höfe, cheap but delicious and they have one of the nices terrraces in Munich.

Hit Goa or Surahi for a midday curry. They usually have afternoon meals that are quite reasonably priced.
GoldNugget
Anyone know of a good restaurant/cafe for LUNCH in the city center? Something quick, tasty, and regular prices. Also not too touristy. Open to almost any type of food. Locations with address would be good. The TT list gives an overview, but I was hoping for an insider tip. Thanks.

Does "almost any type of food" include Japanese? If so, you could give Toshi a try: the food is very good and their business lunch is excellent value for money (eating there à la carte and in the evening tends to be expensive, though).
