Xmas market trips: Nürnburg & Salzburg

So this is last minute but I was wonderring if anyone wanted to go on Sunday to either Salzburg or Nürnburg? The Bayern ticket is $22 for up to 5 people. We would go and come back in the same day.

I was thinking of going to one of the two this Sunday and the other next Sat. (Dec. 11th).

i'm kind of planning to go to Neurenberg this Sunday with some non tt-people, but wouldn't be a problem to merge that together.

I cant go this weekend as I am already going to Regansburg to visit a friend and xmas markets there, but would love to go to either place next weekend - Sat or Sun (prefer Sat as shops are open I would also probably have 1 other friend that would go as well. Will let you know for sure if I see plans posted for next weekend.

Winegirl - Sounds like a few people can make it next weekend. Should we plan a trip to Salzburg next Sat - Dec 11. Is only 2 hrs by train - Nurnburg is 2.5. I checked schedule and regional trains leave Munich-Salzburg at 7:42, 8:48 and 9:42 Returns are at 19:18, 20:13 and 21:22.

Okay so the plan is this Sunday, Dec. 5th Nürnberg. Next Sat., Dec. 11th Salzburg.

Does this mean we can do Budapest in the spring instead of next weekend, too? I'd be up for booking the €29 deal for the overnight train now, for a weekend in March or something

I wouldn't bother 'til nearer the time, or unless you know of a lfight offer...
just checked.. the €29 train deal is only until 11th december, the current price for train is more than a flight would cost...

I'm keen to go to Nürnberg this Sunday. Never been, and as this is my last Christmas here in Munich, I should make the most of it! What time are you thinking of heading off?

I'm open as far as time goes. Here's the schedule:

I think 9:47 would probably be best for everyone but I can also do 8:37. We should meet at 9:20 (or 8:20) at HBF by the ticket machines in the main hall.



Please post if you're a definite for this Sunday to Nürnberg and what time you want to leave.

I am a 95% definite, but will confirm nearer the time. Would prefer to leave on the 9:47 train. After a Saturday night out, I don't think I could make it any earlier

Winegirl - I am 100% for next week to Salzburg, also +1 (but not 100% on that). A friend and I are going to Regansburg tomorrow on the 9:47 (same train as to Nurnburg) so maybe we will meet some of you tomorrow.

I will let you know mid next week if it will be just me or 2.

I'd really like to go to the Nurnburg x-mas market, but will be out of town the week-end of Dec 11-12. Would anyone be interested in going the week-en after that Dec 18-19 ??

The next trip is planned for Salzburg this Sat. Roughly 10 people posted last week that they were interested...So who'd like to go? Chris04 and I are definites.

There are trains leaving every hour and it takes 2 hours to get there. I recommend we leave at either 9:42 or 10:48. We can meet at the same location posted above.

I'm going to Salzburg this Saturday with a few friends. Perhaps we could meet up at some point?

If you are going to the Christmas market up in Nürnberg you may consider stopping at the one in Fuerth, which is really a suburb or Nürnberg. They have a medieval oriented Weihnachtsfest which is always rated higher than the Nuernberg Christkindlmarkt by the locals.

So I will not be joining the group then - sorry, I will just go by myself earlier as I wanted to try to do some sightseeing as well. I will be taking the 8:48 train.
