I am considering getting a cell-phone which includes, as a feature, a DVB-H receiver. However I am not exactly clear on what DVB-H is, or how wide spread it is. I am curious if any forum members are currently using it on their mobile devices. I have a couple questions which were not answered by the previous discussion or the wikipedia entry.

1) Is there any type of subscription fee that one must pay, or is it a "free" service akin to DVB-T?
2) How well does it perform on a moving platform, such as a train?
3) How wide spread is it in Munich (coverage area)?
4) How many/which channels are currently in Munich?
5) With a DVB-H receiver, it is not possible to simply receive all the channels I see on my DVB-T television, correct?

The German Wiki page says it's currently in test phase, in Munich and a few other cities. As such not many channels in the clear at the moment, the independent channels are encrypted.

It's still very experimental in Munich, and doubtful if it will even continue. Transmissions of public services (ARD, ZDF and BR3) started in May 2006 to coincide with the World Cup. Range is limited and it's no good while moving (in any case once you leave Munich there's nothing else until you reach Hannover or Bonn. Given the premium for the phone and the increased size, plus the dangly antenna, I'd wait a while until more material is available, unless IPTV takes over as it probably will.

I'd rather get a mobile with DVB-T built in. No extra charges (except the GEZ obviously)
