Berlin Stammtisch, chance to practice your German

The next meeting of the Berlin Stammtisch will take place on Tuesday 29th July at 8pm in (postponed by a week)

The cafe has a happy hour with cocktails priced at 3.50 EUR. Come along to improve your German (and sip a Pina Colada)!

I'll be wearing a black shirt and there will be a blue diary on the table so you can recognise me.

Pity, I wanted to come along but won't have time next week!!

I went along last week and there seems to be 2 threads for this stammtisch but from what Ive read its not this week but next week. Hopefully JamesM will see this and comment?

I've had a visitor for the past few days so I haven't been able to turn my attention to the Stammtisch this week. The next one will take place next week - perhaps we can change the venue. I'll post something here very soon again.

I am new to Berlin (have been here a month and am staying about that much longer). I am interested in joining this group sometime. Looks like I just missed one. Is it always at Cafe Chagall? Can anyone tell me anything else about it?

Well its been at Cafe Chagall the last three times that Ive known as well as it usually being fortnightly. Its just a group of foreigners who meet up have a drink and speak Deutsch. Keep an eye out on here, Im sure it wont be that long, maybe even see you there.

I am getting my dental stitches removed on Wednesday as well. So, it will be ein Alkoholsfrei treffen for me. This naturally means I will be speaking shit German!

Yep it's Wednesday. Due to work pressures or visitors etc., I can't always organise it for a set date or time. It's usually either Tuesday or Wednesday.

The next Stammtisch takes place on Wednesday, 8 October, at 8.30, at Café Chagall, as usual.

Well usually conversational, but that depends on who comes? I speak ok german and manage to get bye and failing that theres always Deutschlish where you have to import a few english words! Don't worry about it, even if there were any Germans there I'm sure that they wouldn't care about your level of German, just the fact that you're trying!

why do you always have those meetings in the middle of the week? I would love to come but unfortunately have to get up around 4.30 am during the week which makes it kinda complicated to go somewhere at 8pm.
But maybe some day it will be on a fridqay or a saturday so I can attend. If it's ok that I'm german!

Hi Stef, no problem - the more natives the better. The Stammtisch is usually on a Wednesday night, I'm afraid. We've never had it at the weekend as people are usually away or have other plans.
