There would be some benefits for me if I could open a bank account in Germany in US dollars. I won't go into the particulars, but it would be helpful for certain reasons.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone know which banks can do this?
Thanks.

I once had one with Dresdner. It was nice, I could watch the value of the money fall every day.

most of the larger banks with international branching do... Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank, Hypovereinsbank etc. You just have to ask there and be persistent, the first person at the front desk might not know or find that too complicated to contemplate... Or you try a branch of City Bank or Barclays right away. I once also learned that American Express is offering USD accounts for their local card holders as additional service.

Citibank should, but it's not clear what will happen to their German branches now they've been sold to Credit Mutuel.
Anybody have info?
