Has anyone been to the ice cream shop in Potsdamer Arkaden? If so is it really the best? If not where is really the best Eis shop in Berlin? I never really ate ice cream until I came to Berlin. I don't know why but living in Berlin makes me want to eat only the unhealthiest food.

The best Ice cream shop in berlin is on Falkenstein straase in Kreuzburg. I think it is called Eisdiele. Nearest U- Bahn is Schlesisches Tor. On warm days there are queues outside it just to buy. Definitely the best in my opinion.

The one by Schlesisches Tor is certainly good, but to be honest I find all the ice cream shops are much of a muchness. I'm curious about one which recently opened up near Paradestr., where the ice cream's homemade from organic ingredients by the owner, but it's only open for about two hours every day so I've never managed to try it.

Some of the best in my opinion (of course it's a matter of taste, some are creamy, some are softer, some harder, some sweeter...)
- Caramello @Wühlischstr. Fhain (0,80)
- Cafe e gelato @Potsdamer Platz arkaden (1,20)
- the one at Alexa (1,00)
- piu gelateria (spatulaeis

)
- Der Eisladen @Luisenstraße 14, Mitte (0,70)
- Eismanufaktur @Simon-Dach-Str. Fhain (0,90)
- Gelatopapi @Grünberger Str. Fhain (0,70)
- Monheim @Blissestr. Wilmersdorf (0,70 or maybe 0,80 wasn't there this year)

There's a really nice small ice-cream shop on Kleine Hamburger Strasse, all home made and organic, with a good selection of flavours, it's 0.90c a scoop, but yummy

the one in Arkaden is very good, but a bit overpriced and far too popular for it's own good. I prefer the cafe on the corner of Ku'damm/Wilmersdorferstrasse at Adenauer Platz, but it's not just an ice cream cafe

thanks for those recs!! i will eventually try out all of them. but then i will probably run out of my lactose pills..
anyone know if any of the shops carry lactose-free or low sugar/fat type of ice creams that don't give too much trouble for people with weak stomach? maybe in europe that's too much to ask for but still..

Florida Eis in
Spandau...give it a try and decide for yourself. Was voted one of the top 10 in Europe a few years back. Be prepared to wait though, in February there was still a 10 minute line up.

i tried the one on falkenstein straße but didn't think much of it to be honest.
the caramello is my favourite, very cheap and you have the cruelty free and dairy organic options!

you should definitely give it a try!

Note: not that anyone is disappointed who has seen the 60 different kinds of icecream at the website of Caramello - they have only around 20 of them in their daily offer. But at least one sojamilk and five+ of the vegan sorbet.

carmello, best ever. i've been to the falkenstein str. place too but i think it benefits from location more than anything. they are better for crazy sundaes and things like this...but if you just want amazing plain ice cream (vegan or not), carmello is my pick.

so i tried aldemir, caramello, eis manufaktur, cafe e gelato, and the one beside dolce centrale pizza in winterfeldpl. this week and i'd have to rank them as follows:
cafe e gelato (1,20)
caramello (0,80)
the one beside dolce centrale (1,20)
aldemir (0,80)
eis manufaktur (1,00) - the one in Mitte - is this the same as the one in F'hain?
this weekend i will probably try the one at alexa and the one near my flat (monheim?).
Vielen Dank fuer eure Hilfe!!

Eismanufaktur in Mitte is different from the one in Friedrichshain (the owners were once runnig the same shop but seperated some years ago), I think the one in Friedrichshain is a bit better and 10 cent cheaper.
Cafe Monheim is a very nice classic Eiscafé with some more exotic types (for me the best was poppy seed/honey or something similar), but not as good as gelato and caramello.
