Now this is what i call dedication !

Man City fans were somewhat bemused by the high cost of flights to the Faroe Islands where the mighty blues are due to play against EB/Streymur in the EUFA Cup tomorrow.

They've come up with a way to get there though involving an 8 hour drive and a ferry before setting out on a 26 hour rough sea voyage in order to watch their heroes play. smile.gif

A group of British fans proud of following their team anywhere have hired a 72ft trawler for a journey on the high seas to go to a fixture in the Faroes

I have to say, this is an absolute classic in the annals of looney footie fans.

It is an odyssey that looks destined to become a football legend.

And here's a pic of the boat that 12 nutters are going to spend 2 days on for 90 minutes of football. blink.gif

elgin ed
says on sky news that they are stuck at lerwick - the boat wont go as the seas are too rough.

but on the positive side they did get their booze bought for them by 4-4-2 magazine smile.gif

The world is a place one can believe in after all. smile.gif

It looked like our brave boys were trapped in the Shetlands after the trawler captain refused to sail for 26 hours through 20 foot + waves but then the great god of publicity stepped in.

The Sun and Atlantic Airways came together to gift them a return trip to the Faroes and the day has been saved amongst lots of self congratulatory backslapping from the currant bun.

TWELVE footie fans were saved by The Sun yesterday — after a fishing boat hired to get them to a match was halted by stormy seas.

should have used a coracle, that would have got them there no sweat!...they may have missed the game, but it would have got them there.

Organiser Leighton Gobbett said: "This should be the funniest trip ever to a football match. It is for people who want a trip of a lifetime and are up for a laugh."

Such courage - such loyalty. Now that is a story that makes me truly proud to have been a Man City supporter, back in the days when I was young enough to think such things were important.

Just to remind the Blues around these parts that the 2nd Leg, ( 1st leg EB 0 - 2 City ), is this thursday and it's live on ITV4 at 9.00 pm German time.
