Validity of Tengelmann bottle deposit tickets

Update: Yes, they're still valid 11½ months later

The other day I found in a pocket an unredeemed Pfand ticket from last August from my local Tengelmann store. It's from the machine that accepts empty bottles, and apparently I forgot to give it to the person at the cash register when I paid for my groceries. Does anyone know if it will still be accepted? It's worth €1,73. If it would cause a fuss, I'm not sure I would try to redeem it.

Stupid question I know, but does it say anything on it about how long it is valid for? At our local place, Extra, the Pfand tickets are normally valid only for 4 weeks after the date they are issued. If it doesn't say anything on it, then I'd say go for it, the worst that can happen is it doesn't get accepted...

I've used them up to 2 months later.. Why not just go in and try.

I forgot to give it to the person at the cash register when I paid for my groceries.

Is that my boyfriend in disguise? He always does this and I usually take it the next time I go no questions asked and hand it to them.

Mind you it is actually a miracle he had remembered to take the bottles instead of leaving them on kitchen table. Even more of a plus if he has taken the car and not left them in the boot. So you did quite well!!

I would just give it to them at your next shop and see what happens when they scan it in. If they say not acceptable just say sorry you thought it was only a few weeks old.

I think it would be fine though...

In my main supermarket they can only be redeemed on the day they are issued, so I guess it varies.

As suggested, give it a go ...or offer it up for sale on TT at the bargain price of €1,63. ph34r.gif

It does vary between different chains.. But this thread is about Tengelmann..

I will be in Munich again next week.

If you can wait until then; I can meet up with you somewhere (PM for my mobile phone number) and then we can go to the supermarket together. I'll arrange it so that I need to purchase something and then we can put the receipt on the belt together next to my purchase. if the receipt doesn't scan and the assistant hands it back to me whilst shaking his / her head, then I think my German is good enough to 'cope' with the situation.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Shouldn't all this be in the "tightfisted" mean bastard TTers" thread?

I'll take it back to the shop for you. But you'll have to buy me a beer for doing it! smile.gif

I went to the Tengelmann today, and they took it. Before going to the cashier I asked someone if it was still valid and was told that I could come back "in 10 Jahre" (in ten years ) and it would still be good.

They use the barcode on the ticket. The barcode contains the price to refund. It does not contain a date. Which is why/how some people got caught
making their own and cashing'em in. Theres in checks or safeguards to verify them. Only the use of the specail thermal paper with the store logo
on the back.. Which if you have the connections you can get by the box full.
