Connecting "this" phone to an Alice ISDN box

Should it work? What cable should be used?

Will this Phone fit (oh yeah! and work too) in this connection below?

If yes, what kind of cable would I require to connect the phone to the ISDN box?

Help please! Thanks in advance!

If your configuration is exactly as shown in the diagram then it won't work. You have an ISDN service and that's an analogue (POTS) telephone. You either need an ISDN phone or an ISDN-Analogue converter, usually called an a/b converter. Alternatively, if the black modem/router on the right is one of a number of modem/routers such as an AVM Fritzbox or Telekom Speedport router mode ending in "V" (for example) then it will do the conversion for you - you feed the ISDN into it (as well as DSL) and have one or more analogue ports to connect your phone to.

@ Yorklad- Many thanks for your reply!
Though I am not sure which option would suit me, just wondering if my (this) Siemens Wireless Router would do the magic that you just explained?

Thanks again!

That's YorkshireLad6 (YL6 to friends)
Nope - that won't work. In general it has to be a router that supports VoIP services. That Siemens does not.

not all Speedport ***v routers can be plugged into ISDN lines - e.g. the W501V is only for analogue. If you go this route then be sure to check the exact specs (or the instruction manual) of the model you're looking to buy.

@ YorkshireLad6- Sorry for dopping "shire6" ... got it correct this time.

@ YorkshireLad6 and maekelborger- thanks for the input.

Will try to exchange my Panasonic for an ISDN phone!
