Hi all,
I would be moving from India to Germany for long term. Please let me know the time frame that would take to get my work permit/German visa ?
Thanks,
Kailas

It is quicker if you are being relocated by an Indian firm. If you are taking up employment here, it can be anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks.

I heard that we (family) would need a residance permit to stay in Germany if we are staying more than 90 days. In short , we need a visa and the residance permit. This takes about 1-3 months of time. Could any one help me in this ?
One link that states this is -

You and your family will get a temporary visa for 3 months, which on arriving in germany can be converted to a long term resident permit.

Thanks for the replies. I came to know we would get initially 3 months of visa and then I need it to convert it to residance permit.
However I would like to know the time it takes to get the visa for first 3 months assuming all the documents are in place . I am an IT professional and have got the job offer in Germany.
Some of the threads I read were dreadful as they say "waiting for 3 months"...
