Annoying SMS text messages from FlirtCafe

Every Wednesday morning, I receive a text from a company called 'Flirt Cafe' with number 87070. It really pisses me off, because I've tried to contact this company - which I have no idea how they got my number but seems very random - to stop sending me these fucking annoying SMSs.

Anyway, I have never received an itemised bill from O2, simply because I never got round to changing my address with O2. Only this month I received my first bill, and noticed that for every message I receive, I get charged €4.19. This amounts to about €21 per month, and this has been happening for many months now (perhaps half a year). How can this be? Anyone else ever experienced something similar?

My folks had the same thing in Ireland recently. They hadn't been checking their invoices and when they did they noticed these charges with an odd number. They got in touch with the originators of the message, handed out a massive bollocking and the messages stopped. Then they contacted the Commission for Communications Regulation and reported it and apparently it's a fairly major issue.

I'm sure you can do similar here in Germany.

It may be worth contacting O2 and asking if they won't refund the costs.

According to Google you might be able to get them to stop by texting STOP to the number.

On the other hand, I can't get the two websites listed at the first hits to open here. So who knows if it will really work.

I think you have to say what service you want STOPped, although ALL seems a good one to go for.

More details from E-Plus. At least that Mindematics company seems to be signed up to the code of conduct and the PDF link at the top of the page has details on the various commands available for controlling the service in question.

Edit: Couldn't find Moonboot's command in the PDF, but I like it laugh.gif

is it possible to block the number via your phone?
I got spooky texts once from a Flirt-line thing, I texted ´fuck off´ back and it seemed to do the trick.

ha ha...brilliant. I just told them to fuck off too, but straight away they wrote back saying "Wir konnten Ihre Eingabe nicht auswerten. Haben Sie sich vertippt? Bitte versuchen Sie es noch einmal!" Is that just a scam to text back and for them to charge me even more money!? These guys are fucking amazing.

I rang O2 who told me they'll refund the money for this month only, but I must speak to another company (Mindematics) to stop these messages. Only thing is, I rang them but couldn't get through to an operater. Cunts. So I've just sent them an email. They probably owe me several hundred Euros since I've been getting these messages for a long time and just ignored them, not knowing they were fucking charging me all along. Sorry for all the bad language but they've pissed me off.

Pissed you off? It's theft. Is it really right you can send an SMS without somebody requesting it and charge them for it?

The first two weeks were probably a "free trial". When they didn't receive a written cancellation, it could have gone into a one year contract in which case good luck dry.gif

I don't understand why you are being charged for SMS being sent to your phone? I know I don't pay for any SMS I receive unless it's mobilTan with the Postbank.

Crack_Cocaine, check out the PDF in the link I posted - it has details of how to unsubscribe from 'premium services'. 'STOP ALLE' is probably the best bet.

I wouldn't hold my breath on getting any money back - even if you can prove you never signed up for the service, you will probably need to take legal action to get anywhere.

Thanks Guy. You're most likely right about getting my money back, but I'm still amazed by how they can do this. I've just sent by snail-mail a letter to O2 and this other company now asking to see the contract that allows them to take money from my account (in other words, there isn't a contract) and hopefully they'll see that they actually owe me money. I was thinking, I started receiving these messages since end of last year. That's a lot of €s, but perhaps not enough to go to court over. Fuckers.
