German shipping agents for importing to Germany

Hello Everybody,

I currently import products from China. I import them to a UK port (by sea) and then forward them straight to Reutlingen in Germany.

Now I have a German Vat number I think it would quicker and cheaper to import direct to Germany from China.

Can anybody recommend a German shipping agent? With services like this there are normally big differences in price and quality of service, and so if somebody has had a good experience with a shipping/freight agent and can recommend one I would very much appreciate it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to import goods directly to Germany you would need to get a tax number (not just uwst number). This would make you liable to pay tax on your profits in Germany.
