Hello all!! great to be here. Since this forum focusus on Hannover I thought I'd ask if someone knows the steps to take to get a work permit.
I have an address of where i will be living in hannover, I have a job offer already, I just need to show proof of my living quarters to the employer. I just dont know if this is enough to get a work permit.
Eventually I'd like to get a license and all of that fun stuff but first things first. A job! SO can you all give some advice? thanks...

Talk to your employer since they have to request the work permit for you.

The only problem I had was the chicjen and the egg kinda thing. You have to have a job to get the visa, but they can't give you a contract until you have the permit. What I did was just have the HR lady call the Immigration office and tell her waht I needed, that way I wouldn't be playing bureaucratic ping ping.

Unlike Canada, they immigration offcie actually answered the phone and I had my visa same day.

Heads up though: if you are veeery qualified and meet some requirements (google it) you can get a special visa that is a resident visa that doesn't expire. Depends on your qualifications and pay grade though.

Cheers

I signed my contract way before getting any visa.
