Hi, I am resurrecting the German-speaking Stammtisch that used to meet in Cafe Chagall on Georgenstrasse in Mitte. It's a good opportunity for people to practice their German. We plan to meet next Tuesday evening at 8pm. Post here if you're interested in coming along.
Nera
i've no plans for next Tuesday yet, so count me in!

Great! The address is Café Chagall, Georgenstrasse 4, Mitte - come out of Friedrichstrasse main station and take the street which runs parallel to the S-Bahn line. This is Georgenstrasse. Walk for about 5 mins and then you'll see it on the left. I'll be there with a blue-coloured diary on the table and will probably be perusing the menu until others arrive. Only German will be spoken for the night.

The Stammtisch isn't just about practicing your German. It's also about meeting other interesting people...smile.gif

I would like to come to this but am having problems finding a babysitter b/c of Schulferien. Put me down as maybe and I will confirm on Monday. Thanks!

Please count me in as well. I could use all the practice I can get.

Hello Everyone. I'm new to Berlin and looking to meet people and practice my German. I'm planning to come to Stammtisch tomorrow evening. I look forward to meeting you all.
Jamesm
Looking forward to meeting you too. Look for the blue diary. Remember we'll be speaking German!

I'm new in town, and could stand to practice my German - I'll be there.

Would I be out of place if I showed up with really rather poor German skills? People tried to teach me the language in high school for a few years, and it somewhat resembles my native language (Dutch) -- but so far my attempts to carry on conversations in German have been a shipwreck. I just moved here, and am trying to improve my command of the language at least to the point where I can hold conversations and read simple stuff.
Jamesm
Hey, no problem. We met last night with varying levels of German - even 2 native German speakers were there. So i wouldn't worry on that front unless you are a complete beginner or have very basic German.

I'll post a new thread about next week's Stammtisch soon.

I'd be interested in this. BTW, which is the closest U-Bahn station?
Jamesm
Hi, the nearest station is Friedrichstrasse. The next Stammtisch will be the week after next.
