Late Night Takeaways

Is it me or is the late night takeaway situation in Munich dire compared to other German cities let alone Britain? I live right slap bang in the middle of one of Munich's biggest pub quarters (our council ward has more pubs than Schwabing apparently) but there's nowhere to get food.

I came out of the pub just after 11 the other night and the ONLY place doing takeaways was Bergwolf at Fraunhoferstr for currywurst!

Is there some kind of rule that stops kebab shops opening late in Munich?

I know there's Mama's at Münchner Freihei but I don't do Schwabing.

Arent a lot of the resteraunts open till 1am? I know Sitar & Swagat are.

Don't know where exactly you live, but I have never had a problem with finding food late at night.
Places like Lamms (sendlinger Tor) are open 24/7 and most fast food places are open till 1 or 2am. There's also Ostbahnhof and the jummy Space Burger places or Nachtkantibe in the Kultfabrick.

Before you go out, chop and shred a load of veg, cook up some egg noodles and stick 'em on the fridge. Fry it all up, bit of soy, few prawns, sesame oil. Sorted.

Only decent fast food I have ever found late at night, I agree its pretty sparse here it seems. You'll have to brave Schwabing man.

Yep, would say that probably most of the fast food is in and around Schwabing. Maybe some places still open late around Hauptbahnhof, but around Fraunenhoferstrasse don't know of any places.

It hurts so much leaving a pub or bar and not having a fish and chips shop at hand. I can't do the german healthy version of kebabs either, I need to see the liquid fat oozing out of the pitta bread and running the length of my arm. The positive side of course is the quality of beer knocks the socks of the british variety. Ah, if only the catering afterward was as good. I know the only way to win is to eat a meal while out, but it just doesn't compare to munching on a fat laden-chlosterol time bomb in the fresh air!

Burger King in HBF reopens at 4am if you are really desperate. I mean really desperate - it is full of monged-out teenage Outback-dwellers waiting for the first S-Bahn back to Buttfuck Country.
But I digress - Bergwolf does good currywurst though and from about 5ish you can get breakfast from the stands on the Viktualienmarkt (fresh Wurst ahhhhhhhhhhh).

There is a place on Hauptbahnhof across from "Berufskleidunggeschäft" with a great Döner... They are opet till 3 or 4 am

There's the Kebap place at Ost Bahnhof..
Wash it down with a Beer from the "Total recall bar" there too
