Hi,
I am a computer engineer, currently working in Germany on Aufenthaltserlaubnis. I have been deputed here by a company which is of my native country. I am looking for a job change. Please answer my following queries:
1. Are there any issues in getting the Aufenthaltserlaubnis transfered to another company? I don't want the risk of hanging in between where my current company revokes the Aufenthaltserlaubnis and the future company still doesn't process it. Can the future company go back after giving a proof of job offer lets say a letter or something.
2. Is the transfer process complicated and time consuming? Approximately how much time does it take to get it transferred?
3. What is the preferred way of finding a job here? Monster.com or related job sites or the placement agencies which is better? If you could tell some of the best job sites and placement agnecies for computer engineering related jobs. Do placement agencies charge any fees?
4. Being from a foreign country, I would want my kids to go to an international school. Do companies give benefits of paying for fees of such schools apart from the salary because they are pretty expensive?
5. Typically how much time does the prospective company gives for joining the job after giving the offer, is it immediate or does it allow somehting like 2 months or so, actually this much notice period is required in my current company, so this question?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

The key element missing in your entire post is your origin/nationality, which is key to answering most of your questions.

Sorry about this. I am from India.

1. Not sure, but I imagine if you find another job at another company they will sort this out for you, or help you. This doesn't count in your favour though, as it's extra work for the hiring company and they may prefer to choose a local instead.
2. Sorry again, don't know.
3. My preferred way is to go through friends and stay in touch with people, keeping my ear to the ground for possible opportunities. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't but then you only need one job, don't you... Placement agencies charge fees, that can be 1 year of your salary but to the company not to you. Monster works as well as any of these sites, but recruitment agents are sometimes useful, but be aware that they are essentially parasitic and self serving, ie. they usually work in their interests more than yours. In the end it's down to your hard work - my strategy in your position would be to spend the week searching for places then select the best two and spend the weekend preparing two carefully researched applications with tailored CV and everything else. Be aware that many companies expect a foot thick wad of paper including your photo, primary school grades, references from every employer you've ever had, testament from your grandparents that your soul is pure and any number of other pointless testamonies to your general wholesomeness, although I've never had to produce such a file. You can even buy special folders for all that crap.
4. That depends on the company. Some do, most don't.
5. The notice period varies wildly but it is usually X weeks from Y date, where X is something between 4 and 12 and Y is either the end of the month, or the end of the quarter. In a nutshell you have to wait for Y, then another X weeks an you're free. The German law states 4 weeks from the end of each month, if your contract says anything different then you can negotiate, but you'll have an Indian contract, don't you, and that will all be different.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies.
I guess you misunderstood my question 5. I need to know how much time usually a company will give to join a job? Or, is it like it will be adverstied with the position that the person need to be available by "this" time?
