Hi, does anyone know where I can buy Cilantro? It's also known as Coriander leaves.

In Germany the fresh stuff is called "Koriander" and most of the larger supermarkets carry it. Farmer's markets are also a good source but I don't know where those are all the way up north.
woof.

Cilantro/Coriander/Koriander seems to be quite expensive and only in small bunches in the supermarkets. The larger Turkish vegetable shops are a better option - I've been pleased with the coriander I've bought in the shop just off Schulterblatt on the way to Sternschanze S-bahn but there are many, many others!

Asia stores, "Vihn loh" for example by Hauptbahnhof or any other near you, it's also way cheaper that any other stores I've bought it in. I can come with if you want...
Hope everything's well

Try the Asian Supermarket in St Georg. Lange Reihe 1-5.

The coriander plants in supermarkets are pathetic usually. You can usually get cilantro (sold in propert quantities) in almost any asian store, but the trick is that in small stores without refrigerated rooms, you often have to ask them for it... they tend to keep it hidden in a refrigerator so it doesn't wilt. I found this out because I was chatting with the lady at the asian market once and complained about not being able to find fresh ingredients. Turned out she had all kinds of stuff hidden in the back of the store.
Another place to try is the the Karstadt basement veg section.

Try the vegetable store in the Ottensen "Mercado". They have all the main herbs fresh and you can buy as many handfuls as you need, or a plant. There is also a good spice shop with decent variety of chilli peppers (although you need to ask...then he shows you the "stash")

I bought some fantastic coriander at the tiny little Asian grocers on Grosse Bergstr in Altona. It was really fragrant and had great big roots still attached. Lasted for ages too.

Hi
Coriander is easy to grow.
A pot, coriander seeds (full) and water is all you need.
With a flip-flop/piece of cardboard , gently massage the coriander seeds until they halve.
Plant the seeds in the pot and add a little bit of soil on top. Water it but ensure that the soil is mildy wet. Leave it in the sun. Water once a day.
Coriander smells best in 2-3 weeks...that is before they start becoming really big.

Just a thought, can you freeze Coriander. I often buy other herbs that are frozen for quickness sake and find them alright but I have never seen frozen Coriander. I was wondering if it's a quality thing or whether it's just not popular here. My local supply seems to be a bit wayward so it would be good to keep some in the freezer.

I tried this once...May be its just me, but frozen coriander doesnt seem to do the trick for me...Others dont seem to mind, there are fanatic coriander gangs divided on whether to freeze the coriander inside ice or wrap it in sheets of paper before freezing...
google and you shall find

That would be Lee Asia, right? I've always bought my Asian supplies including fresh coriander there, though last time I was in it looked like he was having a closing-out sale.. place was bare.
