Anyone here ever bought Snowshoes in Munich? Whereabouts? Do Sport Bittl have em? could save me a wasted trip. What would be a realistic price?

Can't you just strap tennis racquets to your feet?

Or have I just watched too many cartoons over the years?

Sport Bittl has 'um and so does Sport Shuster near Marienplatz on the ground floor near the climbing equipment. Thinking of buying a pair myself actually...

snow shoes in general are fairly expensive, if you only want to use them a few times you might wanna rent them.

DAV members can rent them (www.alpenverein.de) but there are also shops which rent them.

there's a store right on the corner of herzogstrasse & leopoldstrasse just as you walk out of the muenchener freiheit u-bahn that has them. they've been running a big sale for weeks now, not sure if that includes the snow shoes. snow shoeing is awesome... used to do it all the time when i lived in the mountains of new hampshire. just me and the dog. that's real peace & a good workout to boot. *tromping off singing... memorieeeees*

the Karstadt Outdoor at Theresienwiese has them too. Not cheap, of course.

Would if I could... Going to be working on that this year too.

You might also try REI, Dave. They have a sale online for 4 more days, and I saw at least one pair of snowshoes. They're a co-op, so sign up for yearly membership ($15) and you get 10% back on all purchases as a dividend (store voucher or check) at the end of the year ($). With the current exchange rate - you may end up saving money over shipping and any duties. Plus they have excellent corporate policies. I like 'em, anyway.
