Thanksgiving blues

In Munich for the holiday and feeling depressed

It's my first T-giving away from home (had a nice 39 year run)... sort of hit me given today is a pretty normal day at work that I normally would be in a totally different frame of mind.

I'm not one to get homesick, etc... strange that this "blues" feeling just hit during lunch sad.gif (it started when I thought the canteen might have a T-giving turkey lunch for a fun theme... but didn't).

Anyway, look forward to dinner on Sat... that'll be the cure smile.gif

Turkey, here, in this canteen? You're kidding...

Just have a look around at the techie guys in the canteen, we see enough turkeys every day! ph34r.gif

If you need cheering up, do one of these 3 things
1) come with us to the Twisted for thanksgiving dinner tonight
2) go look at the techie with the huge mullet and Birkenstocks, he has a fanny pack on today!
3) think about everyone who has it worse today (like me, crisis meeting at work and have to look for new home sad.gif ... or Tuca, poor thing)
randy

Just kidding, Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving. smile.gif

We got our turkey breasts at Mini-Mal in Funf Hofe and are having a total of 10 people over tonight. Thanksgiving is what you make it. Well, actually what my wife is making right now in the oven. wink.gif

Go and get some turkey, plan a weekend party, grab a case of beer. Or go out with JoolyBooly and have a good time. rolleyes.gif

just saw that you are having a weekend party. I guess I was thrown off by all those "lonely" posters in thinking that you didn't have a party planned. That's what I get for scanning instead of reading.

Thanks all... no it's more of the for all my life it's the one tradition/day I've managed never to miss, one that links you back through your (many in my case) years.

The only other yearly tradition I've managed to keep going for 20 years is getting laid on my birthday... and that one I don't plan on skipping wink.gif

Oh, and now I'm LMAO with the posters,.

Oh, JB, they had turkey (not just the tech guys),... though a better name would have been "abstract meat" with some MAYO SAUCE? blink.gif
Katrina
We had roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and glazed carrots today in our canteen. You work at the wrong place wink.gif

we know...

@ anabi.. it was an attempt at Thanksgiving dinner, turkish style... I think... I stuck to the veggie buffet as ever, safest bet wink.gif

oh yeah, me too. never had the thanksgiving day blues 'til this year cause i usually get a "real" turkey dinner somewhere, but i'll be at the TwiBav around 9 for a paid one.
the cafeteria had the worst food today. made me more depressed, but it's nice to know i am not "truly" alone, that there are other suffers out there.
happy turkey day. gobble-gobble.!
Izabella
i had a sandwich for thanksgiving dinner tonight. a cheese sandwich. on ueber-whole-grain-1kilo-german bread. if that doesn't make you feel better... i can't help ya smile.gif
anabi
Well the Twisted Bavarian did a great job in curing the blues... didn't have to wait for Sat. Though between the prime rib there and turkey Saturday I my "bigger" problem is my belly, not the blues! ohmy.gif

Hey, I'd never knock a good cheese sandwich

Ahhhh 'tis the season to eat!
Elfenstar
oh yeah, TwiBav took my blues away. actually sat with 3 americans and ate a sorta real t-day dinner. food, mmmmm!
called my mom later and of course in the background was just noise and screaming and chaos and FOOTBALL! sad.gif
