Hi Everyone...
I am from India and will be coming to pursue an MBA at the European Business School (EBS) in the middle of August. I have been told that the residence permit I apply for will expire with expiry of my insurance cover. Unfortunately, the insurance companies in India are willing to provide cover for a macimum of 1 year. Keeping this in mind will it be possible for me to come to Germany on a 2 or 3 month insurance cover and before I apply for the residence permit, buy a longer insurance cover in Germany itself... all advice i welcome...
Thanks guyz...

in India an insurance policy for students encompasses a lot of stuff, like:
1. health
2. dental
3. baggage loss
4. loss of passport
5. tuition fees (in case one misses a term casue of ilness)
of course all these have some ceiling... for example health may be covered upto 500 euros...something like that...im not sure how Germany operates although...

It's a requirement to to have adequate health care cover to actually live here. "Adequate" means a lot more than limited to €500. Foreign health insurance may be adequate but is treated on a case by case basis and you will have to show evidence of the cover. German health insurance need not be sooooooooo expensive for students (but will probably be more than in India). All the other insurances you mention are up to you. No need to have them, but some are recommended.
