Hi all,
This is my first post here hope i can get some help.
I am here in germany on a family reunion, visa my husband is here on a work placement for 3 years.
However i have recently been accepted into a university here and would like to continue my studies.
The question is, do i need to change my dependents visa to a student visa to study here as i will be required to do some practical work in industry.
If so i need to know the procedure about how to go about this...
thanks in advance

Without knowing some irrelevant details like if it is a full time or a part time course, if it is a professional course, the duration of the course, what kind of dependent visa you currently have, etc, I can straight away tell you, yes, you have to change your visa from a dependent visa to a student visa. Most student visas allow 180 half days (or 90 full days) of work annually, precisely for the reason you mentioned.
The university would be the best source of information in the first place. Try searching on this forum as well.

It is better to change to the student visa. As mentioned from the above post you will have permit to work from the starting and covers your internship.

some dependent visas allow you to work and study, some don't. best to check which you have. Go to the KVR in Munich and ask them for some advice.

Akila reddy must be her Husband. She used the husband's id to get some information and now created one for herself.
Why she is requesting the same information baffles me though!!

well if you did not know them personally, how would you know. Akila Reddy is name for male, Akhila would be for a female.
I am an Indian myself.. have a look at my profile.
EDIT.. : just read your edit.

Mitra, that's not really English but you might have better luck over on
Connecting Indians if you are looking for specific answers and are not able to handle the general banter on Toytown.

ok to clarify somethings...angelbeast...I am a women...By ethnicity i am Indian but by nationality I am not.
I guess my parents didnt think it would really matter to get my name right/wrong...since i wasnt going to live in India considering where i was born.
as far as the visa is concerned I cannot change to Student Visa however my visa entitles me to study and work at the same time so Owain was right.
thanks for your answers.
cheers
