Hi All,
To celebrate (or comisserate) the end of the Fourth series since its return in 2005, I would just like to put some
'feelers' out here to see if there is interest in a Doctor Who evening. The location would be someones house, with a few
refreshments, snacks and a chance to meet up with like-minded 'Whoers' in Berlin. I have the whole 1st Series on DVD (2005)
which Im sure would provide many hours entertainment, or at least get the ball rolling...

I would be willing to host this if anyone's still interested. I don't have the DVDs, though, someone else would have to bring them.

I heard that the event happened last night, but not many people turned up, which is a real pity for those people who take the trouble to host these things.
So where were all you guys that said that you were definitely interested then?

Adam, the event took place and emails were sent around to interested parties. For the few that was there, they had the opportunity to sample some of my lovely bean curry, succulent raisin muffins and upside down cake..
The next venue is undecided, so if anyone is interested let me know! MOLTO BENE...

hi,
jon told me about your dr. who dvd evenings and we'd be interested to join.
are you still doing them? where or when would be the next?
I think we have all of the new dr. who 2005 - 2008 at home as well as some of the older stuff.
and hosting a dr. who evening at our place wouldn't be a problem as well (maybe not the first time).

That sounds cool - Im interested in keeping them up even though the first wasnt too popular. I have all the series 2005 -2008.
let us know when you can host, it would be good to keep it going - Id probably want to host everyone but im unable to host any..
I make a mean curry though

Sadly there seems no Interest any more for Doctor Who, despite me trying to get it off the ground...If you want to suggest to host one there maybe still a few takers..
there is a few others that do the Dexter CSI and Weeds evenings, that aren't really into Dr Who

Well, all we seem to need really is a date and a host!! I don't have a tv so hosting the event myself would be pretty useless. But I can make some nice pasta salad ... Any volunteers out there??

Since we moved into our new huge flat I've been meaning to start those kind of evenings... but I don't have a beamer yet and we don't have a TV, well we watch all the shows on the computer.
If someone has a beamer and feels like bringing it then I would see no problem in getting this off the ground, I would have to talk to my girl, but she's usually up for company.
Best

You know me in for a penny in for a pound. This Dr Who will be totally new for me...
Count me in if and when you do Host a Dr Who

Why don't you talk to Another Country? They used to keenly support evenings if someone wanted to put one on - e.g. there used to be a regular Buffy evening back in 2002 and since then they have all sorts of evenings. They might be interested if you asked nicely.
Hi guys - there is a Dr. Who evening at my place on Saturday night, problem is that all the places have already been taken (Berlinender, here4fun, Jon-NJ, 2x McClaren, Mercurie, Feli)
So maybe someone wants to host a 2nd event? We will be starting with Season 1 (2005), episode 6, if you want to keep synchronised. Wonshu, Xargon, AdamH928, phoenix-rose, lolo, NatalieBerlin???

I think the idea to try Another Country is very appealing. If they would like to host a Dr. Who evening on a regular basis more people could come and everybody could bring something to eat. Sounds great. I volunteer to get in touch with them.

How much will they charge us? Im not sure about taking it out of a cosy atmosphere of peoples' homes, into a stuffy bookshop where it'll be fair game for all
and sundry, and end up more being beneficial for the bookshop..
here4fun
Sep 13 2008, 12:07 pm
There is a reason why the book shops don't do that and if they do they have to ask admision. It's due to the Copyright Act. Oncy your viewing it in a public place you have to pay the Copyright. The pubs that show sports have to pay for the licence to do that and they are not cheap so I doubt thats bookshops would do that. Besides the idea of the TV Junkies evening was to share a passion and meet people. Casual, fun and uncomplicated
My 2 cents worth!
Looking forward to back2back Dr who!

Yeah, copyright is an issue if one screens in a cinema or shop. That's the pro and con of it - the bookshop could seat more people. I reckon that at least 10-12 people would have liked to have come to my Dr. Who evening and I can only seat 7

- And on the other hand, it IS nice having these casual TV evenings in a private atmosphere. Well, maybe there should just be more people out there who are prepared to host ...

Hi,
thanx again for the lovely evening Feli. I would suggest October 11th for the next Dr. Who-Night at our place. I think we could accommodate about 8 people (sofa + chairs) - so FCFS. Oh, by the way we got to episode 10 "The Doctor Dances"
