Hi

A small and very friendly group of Manchester United supporters will be visiting Munich
from Thurs 5th Feb until Sat 7th Feb '09.

The reason for our visit is to attend the site of the air disaster and pay our
respects to the people who perished there along with 8 players from the
Manchester United team - the Busby Babes - on 6th Feb 1958.

We would be most greatful if anyone could help us with advice about decent
accommodation near the city center and the best bars ect.

Thank you for your time.

Best bars check out the reviews on Toytown ...

Hotels ... If you want to be close to the memorila then Hotel Moosfeld, Am Moosfeld or Obermaier, Truderingstr are near by ... close and cheep are the Etap Hotel Mulhouse Dornach or the acom Hotel München (acom Hotel München-Haar
Münchener Straße 33 85540 München/Haar ) but both are a bus ride away ...

This is useful : http://www.munich-info.de/hotels/welcome_de.html

The memorial is in Reim Trudering ... just round the corner from Trudering Wirthaus which has a biergarten.

as for central town hotels ... Munich is pricy ... in the centre... but there's lots of options see link above .. but then again no more than you'd pay in Blackpool ... and the beers cheaper !!!

I was at the memorial this year for the 50th aniversary ... and there was a special service. Next year I'm not aware of any plans but the old runway is now a park that borders onto the road where the memorial is ... the Park also has on the other side the Munich convention centre, the biggest in door shopping centre in Munich and lots of resteraunts and fast food outlets ... in February you'll be able to go Langlaufing there too (they have a lope in the park !!! )
