Alternative Thursday night drinks meet up

ok, im up for this. but im away til next month now.
when i get back i would like to go to 'Cake' the jewish turkish bar that has balkan beats. or maybe Barbie deinhoffs the ace gay bar.

definitely down for alternatives. the freakier the better. find the freakiest joint in town, and let's meet there. barbie's is a trip, gay or not. and i drink, but i don't smoke. it doesn't bother me if people smoke, but i need my air flow.

wy dont we put this on wednesday so some people can go to both if they want to compare and contrast

I agree with the suggestion for a day change. It shouldn't be about which group is more popular, it should just be a chance for people to maybe check out bars that are a bit more alternative than the thursday locations (and maybe a bit closer for Blue Cow to get to..)

i say thursday. ie tomorrow. better to have it on the same night and let people decide, otherwise it'll end up the same as the other, which is too crowded, too generalized, and not my kind of scene.

Well for now I'm wanting keep it to a Thursday night meet up and call it the Alternative Thusdays meet up as it sound like a good way to describe it
So keeping it on a Thursday it well create some competition I know but will give people a choice that they themselves can chose
that way the meet up won't go stale

So I'm going to bite the bullet on this one and say that Thursday the 15th will be our first meet up at a venue to yet be decided upon so suggestions please

Ok so I have been down too Barbie deinhoff's to check it out and seem ok
but there has been a request to save the night for the 5th off June so anyone else have an objections to this
also we still need a venue for next Thursday so any reasonable suggestion would be great in the Keruzberg area but no where thats expensive please

Ok just thought I would bump this post back up to remind people if they want a meet up in the Kreuzberg please suggests some where before Thursday night

I do have a few venus lined up in case no one want to mention a place for the next few weeks but I will consider what others suggest 1st on here

I'm not so familiar with kreuzberg, but a friend of mine who has lived in berlin a long time was telling me about a place called arcanoa, is it still around and what do you think about it? should be on Zossener Straße.

edit- found the web site, arcanoa.de. apparently it's moved to Am Tempelhofer Berg 8. looks interesting.

this week I've suddenly have a bit off work lined up and will be working until 10pm most nights so not sure how i will be able to fit in the meet up now on Thursday but I said we will do it on Thursday now so I'm committed to sort it now like i said i would

I'm going to call for our 1st meet up at the Trink Teufel as i think thats the best place for the 1st alternative meet up but i will be in late due to work anyone thinking of turning up early let me know

Arcanoa is really sweet - very intimate and nice water feature running along the entire bar. They've worked hard on a rustic/mystical decor vibe. If there is a live band on thursday (seems to have bands most nights), socialising may be a challenge. It was a nu-metal band last time I went and was suitably loud

I'd check their site but the internet filter where I'm working today seems to only let me access BBC News and British Chambers of Commerce. Rock on.

According to the Arcanoa site, tomorrow is Live: Lobitos AfroLatinFolkSession. I'd say go for it - there's always Melita Sundström round the corner if it doesn't work out.

Aye - and if we're meeting at 9:30, that's perfect for me - b/c my work wants us to go out to dinner... Won't be able to stay too late b/c work in the morning and I live clear to no-where but... Totally looking forward to it.

Good to see everyone last night - can I just say despite the small size of the location, they've got a great setup. I especially LOVED the way they had the water /fountain / stream thing through the bar and the mixed drinks for under 3 eur. Bartender was quite friendly, as were the folks playing their own style of music.

I'd be up for this place again - a bit rough around the edges, but funky, cozy, and ecclectic.

I would go if it was a medieval night
