sir realist
Does anyone know any good safe ways to clean my nice wooden chopping board to get rid of the smell of the nasty french cheese i bought the other day?
Uncle Nick
Try rinsing in vinegar.
JoannaMcIlveen
I'd try giving it a good rub with olive oil - will probably be a good solvent for something fatty like cheese.
sir realist
ok but should i use balsamic or blanco, coz i have a white one
Uncle Nick
Just use cheep vinegar.
YorkshireLad6
Mine used to smell of cheese too, but I never called it "a nice wooden chopping board". Regular showers solved the problem.
sir realist
i have no idea what that even means
Crawlie
Get some sandpaper and take the top layer off before rubbing oil on it to seal it. I wouldn't use it for a couple of days after that just to be on the safe side.

What a euphemism-tastic thread laugh.gif

Would be bloody sore after that treatment I would think. LOL.

I'd try giving it a good rub with olive oil -.

But dont let Pop-eye catch you!

You could try soaking it in a bleach solution (Dan-Klorix mixed with water), rinsing well and then letting it air dry

Buy 10 kilos of fresh squid, and clean and prep them on the board. That'll mask the cheesiness, though it will then of course stink of squid. Whatyagonnado.
sir realist
thanks all , except for squid guy
dolfan
Now Im hungry as hell. 10 kilos of squid, man you could fry, stuff, pan fry, bake, par boil and grill yourself to heaven. Don, where can we get 10 kilos of squid (goood, fresh ya know croatian style) and make weekend of cooking, eating and drinking like kings??

10 kilos of squid, fuck cocaine.
sir realist
mmmmm squid yum
Kätzchen
baking soda and water, and then run a lemon over it to neutralise the smell.
Cota
and the squid???
don_riina
Chuck the board out and just concentrate your energy on getting hold of some decent squid and having a cook up. I've actually got me a hankering for some cuttlefish right now, but squid would do nicely.

hey, at the end of the day. if none of these tips help, why not just throw it out/use it for firewood, and buy another one, having learnt your lesson as regards cutting smelly cheese on it....?
Lavender Rain
Today I was contemplating buying a new cutting board as mine is a little warped from washing it and I thought about this thread. What I thought about is why was he sniffing the cutting board or is the smell so strong when he stand over it he can smell it?
robinson100
If he brought a gas mask he wouldn´t have this problem now, would he????

Mine used to smell like cheese, too; I tried washing it but to no avail. Then I went to the doctor who prescribed these great tablets. I took some and now it doesn't smell like cheese at all.
