How to furnish a flat low cost in Düsseldorf

Ideas on where to buy cheap furniture etc.

I'm just about to take a three bedroom unfirnished apartment in Düsseldorf and will be needing to furnish it quickly and reasonably cheaply.

Is is just me that can't find them but DDF doesn't seem to have second hand shops for this type of stuff, only Antik shops. I've found the AachnerPltz Trodel Markt very hit and miss and am trying to avoid Ikea for good quality older style stuff.

What do ex~pats do with all their furniture when they leave the country, any help would be gratefully embraced.

Thank you

There's an Oxfam shop on Nordstrasse in Pempelfort.
For bigger furniture try Cash und Raus http://cash-und-raus.skmd.de/ a great organisation that helps the homeless and unemployed in the city. There are a few stores dotted about the city. Look under 'Filialen' on the link.
I also happen to have a shelf unit I've been meaning to sell for sometime! PM me for details and a photo - it's very modern though.
There are a whole number of fleah markets in the area, details here: http://www.meinestadt.de/duesseldorf/veran...kt-troedelmarkt
Hope this helps.

Has anyone actually used any of these to buy anything? Will check them out when I arrive (next week, yay!) but would be interested to hear if anyone has any good or bad experiences to relate.
