Blocked Parking Entrance

What can or can I not do about it

Hi Folks

I've recently rented a parkplatz in the courtyard of a building opposite me. IT's only for 4 cars, so it's not a busy entrance. Problem is, there are a couple of shitty little bars in the area and so these arseholes keep parking in front of the entrance, regardless of the signs and being warned by the hausmeister. They have even put notices on stands but they just move them out of the way. mad.gif

I've taken it for granted that I can call the police, but aren't they going to get pissed when I ring up every night to get these cars removed.

What is the standard proceedure here in Munich. ?

Can you take photos and give them to the police so they can be fined. Also, if you call the police and they in the meantime drive away, what happens then.

Don't really want to go down the route of Sugar in the Petrol take or using my ex's nail varnish remover on the body work. But it's getting tempting! ph34r.gif

Any experience or advice welcome

Ta!

Can't help you.

But can advise that sugar in the petrol take would achieve nothing.

Sugar is not soluble in petrol and it would simply sink to the bottom of the tank. The undisolved crystals wouldn't get into the engine either because they are too big for the filter.

Sugar in petrol tanks as a means of revenge is an urban legend.

What, they block the entrance by parking in front of a driveway? Who ever heard of that?! I'd call the police immediately! In fact, I'd request that the police prevents this sort of thing happending again.

The police can't do a thing and neither can the towers. You would have to apply for a zoning thing and get an official sign. The Germans know all this and park there anyway.
Two option: Go and steal a sign and put it up there to make them think it is zoned as such or unscrew the nut to the oil pan a few turns and sooner or later that car will be permanently parked on the autobahn! cool.gif
yomama
You can have them towed. Problem is, if they leave before the car is towed you will be paying the bill.
eurovol
You will most likely pay the bill regardless. Like I said, they can't do a thing unless the city zone's it for a tow zone and they won't.
Most people that say tow at your expense, actually mean, I will have you towed, pay the bill and tell you where your car is when you reimburse me. Many will pay, but more and more are calling the police and you will have to tell them where the car is and they can just go pick it up for free and they can also make you pay for the transportation to their car! How about them apples!
My son's preschool is having a fight right now with the city over this issue. People park right in front of the door so you can't open the door even. There is a special meeting tonight.

What? That's F'd up... one thing I did like about SF is that on the few times some F'ing tourist did that in my driveway I'd call the DPT and they were there in under 5 min giving a ticket and a tow (it's beyond common sense).

Well I'd show'm how they do it downtown with a baseball bat... "Gee I have no clue how your windshield was smashed... it is rather windy today!"

Oh, and maybe have a picture of a smashed windshield upthere or some "hint" as to what accidents typically happen when a-holes park there. mad.gif

Not looking good so Far then sad.gif

Just to clarify !

If it's within the confines of the building, ie within the underground garage or in the court yard then there is nothing the police can do.

However, if it's on the street or the the car has pulled onto the pavement in front of the entrance, then will/can the police deal with it.

Looks like I might have to bite the bullet and go and talk to scary policeman on the street.
JoolyBooly
surely the entrance is also the Fireman entrance to the building? If it is a "Feuerwehrzufahrt" then their parking is totally illegal and you can call the police.

If not, get some tow zone or Feuerwehrzufahrt signs and stick them there anyway!

Sugar won't work, but I'm pretty sure Gelitin powder will...

PS: This also a way to make Napalm.. smile.gif
BadDoggie
Potbelly, I'm not sure what you're dealing with.

Are the assholes parking in your private courtyard? Put up a Privatgelände sign and then have them towed off.

If they're blocking the actual path between the marked parking area and the public road, the police will call for a tow.

Putting up Einfahrt Freilassen signs has no effect if there is no active driveway. My building has the signs but what would be the drive isn't actually in use as such so everyone ignores the signs and blocks the entrance. Not so two buildings down. Park in front of that door and get towed.

If they're actually blocking access, the police will ome, try to contact the owner, then call for a tow.

This was explained to me by the police as we tried to get some car owner notified or towed for blockin the door when the movers came (didn't go to the Ordnungsamt for the DM300 signs).

woof.

Honey, swilled down with warm milk really fucks up a Fuel system...

Just to let you all know. All those no parking signs in parking lots that have the tow truck on them are fake. They have to have that goofy paragraph sign and the numbers that are in the official book to be real and they are not easy to get. The easiest way is to get your hausmeister to have the fireman come out and declare the non parking space needed for the fire department. The police will only do something if the car is blocking a zoned zone. That means if it is a part of the fuerwehr intrance or in any way hinders medical personnel, fire department, escape zone and so forth call the police and let them deal with it. If it is simply a little private parking lot, then there is not a whole lot they can do.
Call the police anyway and try. Nothing will happen until someone complains and complains and complains... rolleyes.gif
Sin
Ha!

What we used to do in England was have two roller car jacks on hand (You can pick them up on eBay for 20-30 euros). With a couple of experienced operators you can move the car to, say the middle of the road.

Get's em towed away really quickly does that wink.gif

Still like the idea of loosening the oil drain nut. Very effective...
yomama
Very effective indeed, especially for your driveway.
potbelly
THanks for the Feedback folks.

@BadDoggie - Interesting. It's not a private parking bay, it's the actual outside entrance to the courtyard. I'll be phoning the police this weekend I think. I'll post if I do and let everyone know what the score is.

Gonna buy some super glue and do all the locks except the drivers side tonight. laugh.gif

Grinner will confirm this: putting diesel ino a petrol tank or vice versa will really screw up the engine!
Moonboot
I parked a bit naughty once...and then someone stuck two massive A4 size stickers on each of my front side windows blocking my side rear views when I sat in the drivng seat. They'd used really nasty glue as well, basically I had to drive in the sitty weather at night with my windows down. Grr. I was well miffed at the time but in retrospect it's quite a good revenge tactic. Took ages to get all the glue off too! mad.gif
potbelly
Well I'm happy to report the Police are more than happy to help if a car is blocking an entrance to a building.

Friday night some twat blocked me in. mad.gif I had even left the garage door open while I went to my apartment to get my ski stuff. Some numb nuts just pulled up and dumped his car across the entrance. Rang the police and this foxy ice-maiden turned up. After a brief conversation in my terrible German, she melted, smiled and said Don't worry, it will be gone in 15 minutes. Sure enough 20 mins later and some selfish w****rs very expensive brand new VW touareg was carried off into the cold munich night biggrin.gif

Shame i never got to see the prats face when he/she came back and their motor was gone. Anyone know what the fine is ?? Hope it's very expensive.
JoolyBooly
yippee! well done. Should be at least EUR 150 dpeending on how illegally they were parked. Good on you, serves them right!
oli2000
The fine for

"Verbotswidriges Parken laenger als 1 Stunde mit Behinderung"

is between €60,- and 75,-
JoolyBooly
yeah but you have to pay the Abschleppgebühr and the parking costs at the police garage on top, no?

My ex parked in a disabled spot because he was fresh from California and "didn't know" (i.e. though it was no big deal)... it became a big deal when he had to pay EUR 200 to get his car back!!
eurovol
Glad to hear that he is your EX! They do know and they are extremely selfish. My sister was in a wheelchair before she died and it is very annoying when spots were taken up by the lazy SOBs. I wish they would become disabled for about a year. mad.gif

Great to hear that at least one selfish idiot got his car towed off. I hope you got that officers phone number programmed into "speed dial". wink.gif
JoolyBooly
I agree, although I was being a bit harsh... I saw the spot where he got towed from and it really wasn't obvious, the disabled marking was paited on the ground, it had been raining and was dark. And the sign was turned around. They just didn't see it.

Funniest bit is that there is a really dodgy bar opposite full of Eastern Europeans who drive very expansive cars. As soon as the police turned up, half the bar emptied within minutes. Confirmed all my suspicions. Probably find my car fire bombed when I get back tonight.

Wish I did get the policewomans number to do a 'speed dial' next time it happens, but to be honest, she scared the shit out of me. Was dreaming of being handcuffed by her all weekend laugh.gif
alanbail
And didnt the police mind that you were wanting to drive your car away with a bottle of tennents super in your hand ? That bar you mentioned was opposite the car parking entrance...it wasnt...now how can I put this ...it wasnt a Turkish bar was it..?
Memo
@alanbail
Potbelly did say it was full of eastern Europeans. Europe doesn't consider us European. biggrin.gif
