Tracking the number of a missed telephone call

E.g. how to identify the source a voice message

Around lunchtime, I played back a msg and then pressed the 'Stop' button on the answer(ing) machine inadvertently. I meant to set it right soon after lunch but in the meantime, another call came through and this caller left a messge too. To my horror I realised that this msg. had overwritten the previous and more important one which was for my husband about a business deal.

Our telephone service provider is the Deutsche Telekom. I am just hoping we can at least track the number. Has anyone ever tried to track a call - number or even just place/region? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

On the base setting of most telephones you can often see lists such as: calls received, calls accepted, calls missed. If the caller didn't have a number block then you should at least be able to see the number... Try going through the menu options to see if you can find this...

And if you have a fritzbox DSL, you can also see the numbers received/called, by going to http://fritz.box, when you are online.

Thanks Corcaigh and Kanda.

The menu options seem to be limited - 10 year old equipment, you see !
Kanda, do you mean this http://www.box.de/sub/index2.php?language=english ? Can't figure out how do I get it to track? Should I enroll first as a member etc.?

Telekom won't provide any incoming call information unless part of a legal investigation, and will only provide information on outgoing calls if you sign up to their service beforehand. It MIGHT be that your connected equipment logs one or more incoming call numbers if the number was actually available, but this depends on your (e.g.) type of phone, answering machine or internet equipment Many better cordless pones maintain a list of the last 10 incoming and outgoing numbers and the Fritzbox (mentioned before - an internet modem/router for broadband) keeps 399 numbers. My Löwe answering machine keeps 50 previous numbers, even if they don't leave a message.

No,

I mean, IF you have a fritz box connected to your phone ( or the other way ), then it logs the calls.
The Fritz box is used for getting DSL.
Do you have such ?

This must have been a VIP call. So much effort into tracing a single call?
