Sorry to say, but the 8th and 10 doesn't look too good for me.
4th at Dans sounds great , not sure if I'll get off work since my soul belongs to them untill the 7th .

If the weather is nice, what about Schloß Biebrich or one of the beach clubs in Mainz / Mainz Kastel? Then we can sit outside. There's the beer garden in the Kurpark but is pricey. And of course there's always on top of the Neroberg with great views and anyone interested can go for a walk in woods or even have a go in the new(ish) adventure park (a bowel-loosing jaunt on wires at tree-top height!!!). In Nordentsadt we have a lovely restaurant called the Alte Krone where one can sit outside in a Hof and drink Andechser (which rates about as good as it gets for Bayerisches Beer!!!) until it's impossible to move anymore (and eat some good food as well).

I'm certainly glad to offer other suggestion of places to get drunk, er, I mean, meet up. Not sure about strip-joints though ;-) If I were still living in Amsterdam that would have been easier...

A question - do the meetups need to always be in the centre of Wiesbaden as there are many, many places to go and enjoy drinking and eating in the outside world.

And if anyone ever feels like and ad-hoc meetup for a drink one evening just drop me a line

hmm we mostly chose Wiesbaden down town because of drivin. Some of us don't have a car, but I think it won't be a problem to car-pool

hey, you sound like a fun bunch of guys and i'm glad i clicked around and randomly found this site.

I'm Vijay, 20 on Weds (whoop - birthday!) from England, moving to Wiesbaden on 29th July. Not sure where my first month apartment will be, however from September I shall be living in an apartment in the centre of Wiesbaden.

I'll be in Germany for a 13 month placement in an English speaking company. I speak no German so will be nice to meet some English speaking guys and gals out in Wiesbaden.

I love sport and play footy and rugby. LOVE A GOOD BEER and I hear it is pretty damn good in Germany. Love going out too and just generally having a laugh.

I'll be keeping tabs on here and shall try and get involved in a meet (if I am welcome ;P).

Vijay, I'd hazard a guess you'll be working at the same place I do so I'll probably see you around anyway! And the beer is every bit as good as they say...

I'd prefer a meet up in the town, partly because I don't have a car here and partly because it's nice to be able to go bar hopping after the main event so us hard core party animals can carry on and make fools or ourselves ;-) The out of town ones seem to fizzle out after dinner as everyone goes their separate ways.

Oh, and ladies, I did *not* offer to do a striptease, let get this clear right now, I just said it was preferable to karaoke ;-)!!

There are two other guys joining me on placement from england so there will be 3 beer hungry young british lads willing to get involved with any drink related activities, (preferably nothing to do with men taking clothes off) and venturing into Frankfurt sometimes!

I vote for the Alte Krone Gasthof. The drinks are not to expensive I think, and the food should be ok. Plus Colin is recomending it, so it must be good

Please let me know if you're coming. I would reserve the table on the 24th with an approximate number, and will confirm the day we meet up. This means, that you need to let me know if you plan on coming, and need to cancel the latest the day before if you are not able to make it !

Ooooooh!!! You're all coming to my home :-) The Alte Krone sells Andechser beer - fantastic - and has a great hof. And I live a short staggering distance!! All that are interested are welcome back to mine afterwards for some home mixed caipirinhas!!

Looks like we need a plan B… Just had a peek at the Alte Krone website and they're shut on Mondays and Tuesdays during the summer holidays. School doesn't resume until 4 August.

Oh, and check out their chef's wacky coiffure. Quite disturbing!

Has anyone been in the Ratskeller und the Neues Rathaus since it was taken over from Andechser? It's very nice down there but the food (under Andechser) was always very poor. Based on "Ambience" I'd go for that. Failing that I'd opt for the Paulaner. But if you want a real classic small and excellent German restaurant with great beer and a good atmosphere then I'd recommend the Bobbeschänkelche on Röderstr. It has a small beer garden out the back if the weather is good enough (oh please, oh please)

Or am I just confusing things here?!?!?!
