the story of Latin-Americans, Camilo Meija, Fernando Suarez & others, involved in the US wars in Iraq and Middle America, struggling to resist the military juggernaut and organize a peaceful alternative.

winner of film awards for both feature and documentary films “Es Herrscht Ruhe im Land�,
“David�, “Der Aufstand�, “Dear Mr. Wonderful� and more.

Senna Coppa: active member of U.S. Armed Forces since age 17, member of “Iraq Veterans
against the War� IVAW, participant in Florida “Winter Soldier� Resisters’ Conference, a
witness at US Congressional Iraq-Afghanistan War Investigation by the US Congress.

Chris Capps: born in New Jersey, active member of US Armed Forces 2004 to 2007,
Iraq veteran, deserter, member of IVAW, prosecuted for desertion,
released from Army, “Less than Honorable Discharge�.

Christiane Ernst-Zettl: German Army Master Sgt. in Medical Corps, veteran of Afghanistan War, prosecuted for refusal to serve as combatant violating the Geneva Convention and

Film Synopsis: The film “Camilo – The long road to disobedience� is the story of one of the best known American military deserters, Camilo Mejia, who after a six-month duty in the Iraq War during a two-week home leaves the US Army .. another major character in this film is the Mexican, Fernando Suarez, who loses his 19 year-old son in this war due to an exploding mine.

The subject is not just the �legitimacy� of the war, but what Peter Lilienthal further questions: Who are the victims of this war? Why do the fathers let their sons go to war? What motivates these young men to enter the US Army?

It was an interesting film and also the discussion was very informative for me. I´m a frequent customer of the Filmmuseum Cinema for a year now and that was the first time that I´ve seen it filled until the last seat.

I would really enjoy to see the next Peter Lilienthal movie. He said in the discussion that he does not feel like making a documentary again and would like to make a motion picture. But you never know.
