The summer Tollwood festival sees its 20th anniversary this year and takes place from 26th June to 20th July in Olympiapark Sued, Munich.

Opening hours:

Monday-Friday 2pm-1am
Sat/Sunday 11am-1am
The Market of Ideas is open till 11.30pm.

Some highlights:

Gentleman 28th June
Schiller 3rd July
The Bangles 7th July
Annett Louisan 8th July 7.30pm
The Hooters with Mick Hucknall 16th July
Billy Idol 20th July 7pm

The Market of Ideas (Markt der Ideen) is a showcase of global delights from African statues to Brazilian cachaca to handmade honey candles and jewellry. You will be able to see how a solar-powered cooker works, how candles are made in Swasiland and how honey is taken from honeybees (without being stung)!

The majority of food on offer at Tollwood is guaranteed to be organic, from sausages to wine and fish. This year sees the stand 'Transsilvanien' offering specialities such as Romanian doughnuts and grilled fish.

There are performances, a poetry slam, a children's event calender and workshops all on offer.

Bloody hell, repeat of the winter Tollwood then where it was Bio everything including Glühwein - how the hell can you have Bioglühwein!! "Biologische Anbau der Trauben" apparently after asking for an explanation...I reckon it was all out of the same bottle myself...just a marketing ploy to demand more money from the punters. Sorry, suppose that should've been in the rant section...it's really a lovely event smile.gif

Oh! Does Billy Idol get arrested this time for waving?

MadGibson - Tollwood has been offering organic food for the last 10 years now! Organic wine as in they don't spray the grapes with pesticides and chemicals, I guess. I had some nice organic Champagne once.

Apocalyptica is playing at the Saturn Arena!

Yeah, I know it's always been "bio" orientated but winter Tollwood was completely OTT i.e. hardly any non-bio products. My point was more just that it's an excuse to charge more for things when it's expensive enough anyway!

Biggest highlight for me (and I suspect a few other TTers): Jethro Tull on July 13th.

Let me be the first (possibly only) one to say: I fucking hate the summer tollwood.

Worthless expensive waste of time.

Ummm ... Bio costs more. That's a fact.

It's not an excuse to charge more and, in my opinion, the prices at Tollwood are very decent.

This will be the first Summer Tollwood since I moved to the new housing complex on Ackermannbogen - looking forward (NOT!) to not being able to get out of the place with all the cars that will be parked on the streets.

Warning to those intending to park in that area - the 'Spielstrassen' e.g. Agnes-Neuhaus-Str. have only 6 allowed parking spots - the police love the area for revenue. Additional warning, any *#@$ who parks in front of our garage will need a new paint job and tires. Especially if my wife goes into labor (due around the end of Tollwood).

Although, I have heard rumours that Elizabeth-Kohn-Str. may be blocked off to all but those who live in that area - bloody well hope so!

That would be the housing complex that replaced the beautiful green forest view we had clear over to Olympiapark.

My husband can barely get out of our garage onto Saarstr. in the mornings due to all the traffic from there.

In any event, let's hope people won't be driving to Tollwood to drink bio beer.

huh.gif Strange, I seem to exit that housing complex onto Akermannstraße - never been able to get to Saarstraße as driving over the other housing complex between mine and there is not possible. I will say though that Saarstaße is a stupid route for the 154 bus to take. Sorry it took your view - but if it is any consolation my dog enjoys the quick trip into Olympia park tongue.gif .

I would love to see Billy Idol this Sunday! Could someone tell me where I would go to buy tickets or where to look to se if there are any left at this late date?

Also, is it in stadium with seating or is outside and everyone bring a blanket like in an amphitheater?

Sorry, for the stupid questions seem a bit stupid! But I have never been.

Thanks.

Do a search for "Tollwood Billy Idol", someone was selling two tickets a couple of days ago here on Toytown.
