McDonald's at Max-Weber-Platz has closed down

Pariser Platz and Isartor branches still open

As I've seen a couple of days ago the McDonald's at Max-Weber-Platz has been permanently closed down back in April. There's a sign in the window asking customers to visit the restaurants at Pariser Platz and Isartor. The McDonald's sign at the front of the building is already gone.

I find this to be kind of strange, while fast-food joints of all kinds are generously popping up throughout the whole city this long-time established McDonald's closes down. Maybe it was just to close to the other store at Pariser Platz. Bummer anyway, cause this place was really convenient at the U4/U5 stop.

MuckDonald's are closing a lot of their European stores, especially the smaller ones. Even my local one back in London closed, and that was slap-bang in the middle of Pikey Central. I for one won't be missing them.

Edit: I just saw you used the word "restaurant". Oh the irony.

With luck they will close the one at Nordbad so I won't have to hold my nose when I pass by.

I noticed that a few weeks ago, was sort of bummed, was open late always good for a quick snack, and it was always busy, so, i found it hard to believe.

I never liked the place, unfriendly and greasier than most McD's. But handy for a late night snack after the HBK.

They probably want to close most of the smaller McDs, which don't have the expansion possibilites for a McCafe.

but there is a nice little greek style imbiss on InnerWienerRing just around the corner, called Pino- super pizzas and salads! And I am not a pizza fan.

That was the Mickey D's where they found a junkie unconscious in the ladies' room.

Sad as that was a god send for hungry husbands whose wifes are delivering their babies in Rechts der Isar. I have fond memories of that place.

Wasn't it also the first one in Germany?
Owain Glyndwr
no, but it was in Munich. Martin-Luther-Straße, i think
Ruthie
The first one in Munich is still there, as I was there a week ago. Across the river, where dragons be.

What I didn't like about the Max-Weber-Platz place was the windowless downstair seating, that was kind of - well, out of style. Still, it was a great place to grab a burger at night, right next to the U-Bahn, especially as the Pariser Platz McDonald's is 5-minute walk from Ostbahnhof station and the PEP/Neuperlach McDonald's is a place you can't really go to at night.

I'm wondering what they will do with the Pariser Platz McDonald's, it's also way too small to equip it with a McCafé. Maybe they'll close that one down, too, and eventually build up one new big location in the Ostbahnhof/Haidhausen area.

I agree. I was in Rechts der Isar for two weeks, and Mickey D's sustained my (then) loyal husband during those difficult times.

Pas and I tried to "hit it" before Andrew's wake, and were sadly disappointed to see it closed. Alas, we had to settle for a more expensive but infinitely more satisfying curry.

It's always good to hear when McDonald's closes a place. Who gives a shit about the jobs that get scrapped too anyway!? Pfff...
Small Town Boy
To describe working for McDonalds as a "job" is also a little on the generous side; their hostility towards unionisation and the low wages they pay has been upheld in court (see McLibel). Ever heard the term "McJob"?
Hutcho
Either way, at least the people working there are earning a living rather than just sitting on their lazy ass collecting the dole.

Why? Is that a "rough" part of town or something?
Mr.Mosh
unless you are a teen I highly doubt you will run into any trouble there
