Hi,

Which is a good place for getting dread locks here in Munich? How much would you approximately pay for getting dreadlocks?

Cheers!

Pay for dreadlocks? Don't you just have to rat-tail your hair and not comb it for a while?

Do you mean how much it would cost for braids?
xargon
Yeah, braids would probably look cleaner. I think they use wax for dreads and I would rather have a pro do it, rather than walk around with burnt skull biggrin.gif

I think you can do on your own. Go to This page for instructions biggrin.gif

Angelica's probably offer this. They do weaves and braids, that I know. I've never used the hairdresser there though.

Yeah fuck salon dreads. Only wash your hair in salt-water and they should naturally form. Nice uneven ones, with a few stringy bits, and big fat dread off to one side. Yeah man, forget all identical even salon dreads. I would get some myself, but a ring of dreads with a bald patch in the middle would just look funny.
xargon
Ya, I have never done it myself. Might give it a shot though. Thanks all for the tips.

Cheers!

@xargon: Why are asking? Has someone suggested you would look cute in locks. Stay off the drugs man!!! tongue.gif
xargon
Man, variety is the spice of life biggrin.gif

Staying off drugs does not work either.

my mate had dread locks done, he wishes he never did!! he wears a cap most of the time as they made him go bald and have really bad hair.

Its OK, xargon is heading towards my hairstyle anyway tongue.gif.

Are u going for fake locks or the real deal.

I am asking again, why o why o why. Who are you trying to impress. biggrin.gif

Do you want to be something like this. tongue.gif

xargon
tsh tsh...why does everything have to be about impressing someone? I am more selfish and do things for my own interests biggrin.gif

Addressing a lot of issues here:

I would not recommend diy dreadlocks. They can take years to form and in the meantime you look awful. (The linked to dreadhead as well as other products do not really give you dreads--real dreads take time--and the photos on their sites are only of the lucky people who had it turn out well). Some people put wax or other things in their dreads but it is not necessary. My locks have nothing in them but hair smile.gif. I've heard a few horror stories about non-blacks getting locks in Germany, apparently some of the hairdressers don't know how to deal with differently textured hair.

I got my locks done in Brazil and paid about 30 euros for them. Here in Germany I think they can cost upwards of 150.

Lalalalala, I love my locks. My hair is quite healthy and I only have to wash it about once a week. Here are some recent photos of my new color.

There are lots of misconceptions about locks so if you have any questions you can direct them at me, at least until tomorrow when I'm off to Italy. smile.gif

@xargon: Have fun with your new look. smile.gif
