So, when is the plan? I'm here this Sunday.

I was just thinking of going along to one of their open races where its just random people, but...
If enough people are interested, we can try and do it like we did before so its just us racing. Off the top of my head, I dont think we could do girls vs girls then boys vs boys and then a final after that... They seem to like to have 1 "set" of people do all their racing (heats then final) then the 2nd "set" would do all of theirs.
Can check details with them again though when we know numbers.
For now its 4...

If we dont have enough to make up a race, it will likely just have to be an open race.
@jb.. we dont?

As for dates... dont know yet, but it wont be this weekend. I will check for availability some time this week.

I think maybe it should be arranged for some time in January when everyone is back and looking for something to do inside on a Sunday afternoon

Most people are busy until then aren't they?
JoolyBooly
Nov 22 2004, 2:48 pm
yep, I totally agree. Also budgets squeezed for flights home and prezzies.
Mid-Jan would be better. Then we should be able to get a group together.

1. Where is this place

3. Date/Time??
PS: If you want outdoor (Ice Tracks)

I saw a kart track near the
airport.. Off the the right side of the southern runway, while on short final.

Nov 23 2004, 11:20 am
@ravski. Not sure from the pic, but I dont think thats the kinda kart that we use...
@DarkKnight
The place we will be going is Kart Palast which is on the end of the U4/U5 U-Bahn line.
Here is their website.
The date and time will be some time in January, to be decided.
The cost will likely be between 30 and 40 euros depending on the time and format that we choose upon.
I'm interested in the ice tracks.. I did ice karting back in the UK once (on an ice rink) and even though it was just a tiny oval, it was hella fun!

Just looked on their site about the open races they have. They occur on Sundays. 60 random people turn up and the event lasts for 3 hours. The cost is 39 euros each and you have to book individually.

I just phoned kart palast and they are sending me a "special" price list based on our estimated group of 23 ( I miscounted before I called them). He will make up a plan that will let us all compete together rather than 2 separate races that we had before.
About dates, Assuming we are doing a sunday afternoon, then we can go in February on the 6th, 13th or 20th.
I will reply to this with the pricing information once I get the mail from them.
Tom17
Jan 14 2005, 3:05 pm
OK, so I got the info from them and I think they assumed this was some corporate event as it would work out at 71 euros each (for 22 people) or 52 each if we filled it out to 30 people. Completely unrealistic! So I will continue to persue the "normal" pricing. Unfortunately the guy is not in until Monday so will call back then.
To satisfy peoples curiosity, the plan he gave us above was as follows.
Start-Check: 2 groups of 15 for the briefing and a sekt cocktail starter (huh!!)
Warm-Up: Free training - 8 laps each
Qualifying: 8 laps each as 15 teams of 2 people.
Team Rennen: 40 lap race for 15 teams of 2 drivers. Something about an entry in the guestbook and trophies. for places 1-3. Some tidbit for everyone.
Its a 2 hour event with 15 teams with 2 drivers each and costs €1551.75. I nearly spat out my coffee when I saw this and I dont even drink the stuff!!!
So.. the "normal" options we have are as follows.
1. 'race 1' x 2
We would be in two groups of 11 (flexible), the same as last time. The two groups would be considered as separate events (though one after the other). Each race would comprise 7 laps qualifying and an 18 lap race. The event lasts 30 mins and would cost either €30 each or €385 for the whole race (still trying to confirm how we do this with less than 15 people). If we have to pay €385 for the event, with current numbers it would cost us €35 each or €26 each if we find another 8 people.
2. 'A+B Finale' x 1
2 Qualifying sessions: 15 people at a time. 8 laps each. Then 2 Races of 20 laps each. Also 3 x 0.7l bottles of sekt for the 3 winners. Duration 75 mins. Cost €1125. This would work out at €51 each for 22 of us or €38 each if we could stump up 8 more people.
3. That crazy 'special' deal that he sent me.
My vote is option 1. Its the cheapest option and we all get our fun. I plan to call him back on Monday to enquire about how the pricing works with our group size, so any feedback on which route people would like to go before then would be good. Also preferences on the date would be good :- February the 6th, 13th or 20th?
Arwen
Jan 14 2005, 3:21 pm
i also vote for option 1! last time has really been fun!
the others are a bit over my budget.
for me the best day would be the 20.02.!
Hi
I'd also be interested in going karting so that means we're 1 person closer to 30 people.
I'd be interested in either option 1 or 2 (if we get 30 people then option 2 is not too bad). Any of the dates are OK with me at the moment.
Maybe we should also post this in the "TT Meetup" section since I'm sure there are people who read that who don't read the "Sport Munich" section but would like this type of event?
Should be great fun!
Moley
Jan 15 2005, 4:51 pm
Option one gets my vote. Don't think the piggy bank could justify 50+ euros, but could be persuaded for option two if we get the numbers.
I'm open to any of the suggested dates, not particuarly fussy!
kenboy
Jan 15 2005, 5:34 pm
dont know how i missed this, id be interested not fussed about the dates either...also agree moving to TT meet ups could help get the magic 30!

Jan 15 2005, 7:45 pm
I vote for option 2 and any date but not the 20th Feb.
Solo
Jan 15 2005, 7:47 pm
Option 2 sounds best as long as we hit 30 people to keep the costs down for everyone.
Do we all get to race against each other with that option?
Feb 6th or 13th would be best for me.

OK,
I just phoned the place. I have tentatively booked Feb 20th at 4pm. We will be doing the 2 * race 1 option and will cost 30Euro each.
I am in a hurry now, but I will do a more detailed post later today.
