Finnegans Wake was first established in 1994 in the heart of Hamburg. The pub has all the usual trappings of an Irish pub, including live music, Irish beers, whiskeys and Irish homemade food.

What can I say? When it's good it's great. Good food, good live music, pub quiz, plenty of footy/rugby to watch. Have had some great times in there. :-)

I found the quiz very entertaining, I'm a bit of a quiz freak myself and love to test my knowledge against that of others. The food was great particularly the chicken sambos. I'm looking forward to my return at the end of the month...

Good food? chicken sambos? Well, not as of october 2008. I was on a passing visit to Hamburg last week, and there was only microwaved pizza on offer as "food". Also, and this is not really a gripe about the pub, just me being arsey, I asked for Weissbier, and was told (by an english speaker) they only had "weizenbier". What was I given? A bottle of Paulaner, with "weißbier" written on it, in a glass with "weißbier" written on it. Regional linguistic variations aside, learn to read.
