I know a dentist who serves american patients. I forgot his name, but he is located in Wiesbaden in the pedestrian area in the same building as Benetton. So if you find McDonalds, you´re almost there. He has a big sign outside indicating that he treats americans.

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in Mainz or Wiesbaden? Our daughter is staying with us and has raging toothache! A dentist who speaks decent English would be best as she only speaks a little German.

I've found a website for an American practice in Wiesbaden but it looks as if they only deal with American service people? Also I've seen that Dr Christian Schulz comes highly recommended, but from his website he seems to specialise in parodontologie, which I think is something to do with gums? Does he deal with general toothache?

I also saw that Lavender Rain travels 3 1/2 hours to a dentist in Wiesbaden (so he must be good) - Dr Zimmermann. Unfortunately there's more than one Dr Zimmermann in Wiesbaden, but if Lavender Rain pops in and sees this, it would be great to know which one he is.

I can translate for her if necessary, but somehow the thought of translating in a dentist's surgery doesn't exactly fill me with joy.... ;)

Thanks!

I'm in Mainz and recently found a decent general doc and also dentist - both spoke English well. Reception desk at doc's office spoke English fine, gal at the dentist office not so much, though there was another girl in back that can speak perfect English. Doc's visit was only 20Euro, teeth cleaning at Dentist was 150Euro (little expensive, IMO).

Doctor (right by Hauptbahnhof in one of the large towers)

Dr. med. Matthias K. Schöpperl

Internist und Gastroenterologe

Thanks very much jimpix - I shall keep a note of the doctor for when we need one!

As my daughter needed a dentist quickly I ended up googling and found the following dentist:

Dr. med. dent. A. Kuroszczyk

Markt 11

55116 Mainz

www.dentalpoint-mainz.com/en/praxis_standorte.php

There are several dentists in the practice and they're in the Marktplatz. Easy to find and as many apples as you can eat in the waiting room.

So far we've been very pleased. He speaks perfect English (important as our daughter doesn't speak much German) and was very helpful in working out her treatment to maximise use of her EHIC card (she was visiting us for a couple of weeks) so that she paid the minimum and can claim back the maximum.

Thankfully I haven't yet needed to consult him on my own behalf, but I'll probably go there when I do need a dentist.
