So I have a locked pdf file (that I bought) and need it unlocked. Would someone be kind enough to unlock it, or lead me to a program (for Mac OS X) that is free will serve me needs.

Thanks, PES

The book is over 200 pages, and all demos (up til now) unlock only a few pages. :(

Surely if you bought it, you should get the password from the same place?

The version of Preview on early releases of Mac OS X broke the encryption of encrypted PDFs. If you've got the discs it'd be worth extracting the app (with Pacifist) and trying it.

I have been trying Acrobat Reader, but I do not see the option of saving through IIRC? Thanks though, PES

@Dostoyevsky, May I send it to you?

Thanks, PES

Problem solved! Switched my Imac into Windows mode and followed Koorosh's lead. Let me open half the book, and that is the half I needed. Thanks all, PES

For future refference at the time of this writing

there is no PDF password cracker/remover for

MAC. All the good programs are windows or linux based.

The best programs are from the russian company

Elcomsoft. The make password removers/crackers

for all major file formats.

I want to publish some of my work as PDF documents under one of my social network profiles. However I do not want to share them with everyone but few people so I want to put passwords on my documents. I will share the password with people who I think should be seeing my documents. I have read online that there are ways to crack a PDF password. What are the chances that random people will hack my documents? Is it easy to hack PDF passwords?

@Lifeisabuffet - think carefully about what you are proposing.

You want to use a Social Network solution to store your documents, but also keep them private ( I do not want to share them with anyone). Don't you see any obvious contradiction there.

There are ways to crack ALMOST any encryption/protection that you can come up with.

If they really want to do things to them that you disallow.. High - Very Easy with a bit of googling and the right tools.

Thanks I meant not with everyone but with few people, sorry typo. But I do get where you are coming from. Maybe I will not upload them.

So what would be the best way to do this? I have like around 1000 documents. Keep them offline and share them on a one on one basis?

Have you heard of Google Drive. I suggest this offers the functionality you appear to be looking for.

Ok I need to unsecure a PDF document I've received. I want to convert it to Word but since it is "secured" no applications will let me do this.

I've tried all the ideas included in all these links:

remove secure from PDF file

So:

1. Saving it as a new PDF document does not remove the secured feature

2. Printing it as a PDF document to save it again as a PDF file (with a PDF Writer) does not work either

3. I've tried fiddling with security setting, no hope

4. I've tried uploading it to Google Driver and back, that does not remove the "secured" feature either

5. I've tried cracking the "secured" feature with PDF password cracker online, that does not work

<_<

Can anyone help me please?
