According to Sergey Brin of Google (who also goes in for the Steve Jobs all-black style of dress when on stage)

Google Glass will be coming to Germany in early 2014.

Wonder how the locals will take to it, given all the hysteria in Germany that accompanied Google Streetview. I reckon many people will have a fit..

My view? Google Glass is just a fad.

But then they said that about mobile phones in the late 80s.

If the glasses do not take off, there has to be some other advance in this area. We still need to have info visible without fishing our phones out of our pocket.

Is there enough hard-disk space in the world to store all the home made POV videos these things are likely to generate?

Apparently the glasses all blur up when you look at certain peoples houses. And peoples faces are all blöd too.

you could be right.

In the UK response to the Guardian article about Google Glass was hostile, if the comments are anything to go by.

Why do people get so het up about being videoed or photographed. it's just a snapshot in time, thats all.

People already have something even better than Google Glasses - a pair of eyes.

Everyone has them and almost everyone can see everyone and everything going on within eyeshot in public whenever they go outside.

So what are we to do about it? Make everyone wear eye clappers when they go outside..

Radio 4 "Click" did a piece about these life blogging cameras you attach to your cardigan (or tank-top) that take a picture every second. They found it important not to record sound for privacy reasons.

Even if it is harmless, most people will resist it. Even if it is for non-rational reasons.

Based on what it looks like, the answer would be a resounding "NO".

They consist of what looks like a normal glasses frame. If you can wear two pairs of glasses at the same time then you're laughing. Unless they have a version which can incorporate an existing pair of glasses, or at least prescription lenses then it does not appear to be practical.

Why would someone who doesn't wear glasses want these things?

@KD

Look at the provided link/pix The electronic bit can be removed and placed on either side of the frame

or, place it on your own glasses frame. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see pix of Glass over normal

glasses.

It would have to be quite high up or your anorak would get in the way, surely?

Well, according to Klaus Wowereit of Berlin the new airport was supposed to be opened last year. So far, Google Glass does not exist, and the topic title must read "Google Glass might come to Germany on 2014".

Google was developing voice recognition technology for a while, I even have it on Google Maps for my old Nokia phone. However, I don't use it for this reason:

So, I'm sceptical about this product, although it might find some niché.

Looks like you're concerned they may suffer from tunnel vision, Pas. B)

Just 2B seemingly equally curious about them;

Will they turn red if the glasses see anger?

When was the last time a plane landed at the new Airport, and Passengers used its services? :-0
