Dear All,

Does anyone know how to account for payments made to foreign trusts and / or charity organizations (especially non-EU countries)?

Can you deduct it from your income here in Germany?

Cheers

Unfortunately only in German:

Gemeinnütziger Verein

Your local Finanzamt has to decide ,whether they accept the charity. You need a receipt from the charity for the donation. A bank receipt will not suffice.

Addentum:

In one of the followup pages, they provide information about the formal acceptance of a charity as such.

After formal acceptance, you will find a paragraph on your receipt they is similar to:

Zuwendungsbestätigung <id> über Geldzuwendung im Sinne des §10b des Einkommensteuergesetzes an eine der in §4 Abs. 1 Nr 9 Körperschaftssteuergesetz bezeichneten Körperschaften, Personenvereinigungen oder Vermögensmassen

Well known international charities (UNESCO, medicines sans frontier, et al.) will provide you a receipt for the German Finanzamt.

Thanks for your quick reponse.

On a different note - I moved to Germany in Nov 2012 and for CY 2012, worked here only for last two months.

For taxation purposes - I shall add this two months salary to the Indian income for CY 2012 period?

And then get a claim back from the German finamt for full amount? Is that how it should work.

Many thanks!

Cheers

Kapil
